Ergotron Universal Tablet Cradle

The Ergotron Universal Tablet Cradle is a handy way to mount a tablet or even small monitor next to your regular monitor using the rear VESA mounting holes. The Ergotron Universal Tablet Cradle keeps your tablet handy and always ready with an easy to use top clamp that holds the tablet in place as well as making it fast to remove.

Ergotron Universal Tablet Cradle Whats in the Box

The Ergotron Universal Tablet Cradle has four mounting holes on the back that line up with the VESA monitor mount holes and can hold medium and larger tablets. The width of the two arms is from 5.5 to 8 inches while the height adjusts from 8 to 9.75 inches.

The Universal Tablet Cradle holds medium and larger tablets but smaller ones like the Nexus 7 come just a little too small in height for the spring loaded clamp on the top to keep the tablet snuggly in the holder. The Tablet Cradle mounts easily using two screws in the VESA holes with a clamp for the side of the monitor to steady the cradle.

I used an aluminum channel and replaced the small arms to make the cradle fit my smaller Nexus 7 tablet and used a z shaped piece of steel from an Erector set for the top of a DoubleSight 9 inch display. The cradle works well for larger tablets like iPads or even eReaders like the Kindle but can be adapted to fit smaller ones as well with a little do it yourself ingenuity.

I simply cut a channel about six inches wide then lined the inside with sticky backed foam and drilled a hole in it to mount it where the two arms are held onto the cradle. The cradle does a great job of holding my 9 inch monitor using a bent piece from an Erector set to hold the top against the cradle.

The cradle used for the medium and larger tablets works well and is easy to use so getting it for a tablet holder is a great idea. Your tablet is ready in a second by the simple spring loaded but rubber protected clamp on top so you don’t scratch your tablet.

The Ergotron Universal Tablet Cradle may not fit every tablet but it works well for any larger than the Nexus 7 and one I can highly recommend. If you’re looking for a tablet cradle for mounting on a monitor the Ergotron Universal Tablet Cradle is a great choice.
