The Dremel 4000 is the newest rotary tool from Dremel featuring full 5,000 to 35,000 RPM adjustability and the full line of Dremel tool features. The Dremel 4000 uses feedback circuitry to provide consistent performance at all its speeds and has the useful feature of replaceable brushes for long lasting performance.
The Dremel 4000 is a light weight tool coming in at 18.8 ounces and is nicely shaped for both easy handling and good firm control while using. The tool has a handy hanging clip on the end and a removable hand collar around the tip near the collet for comfortable control.
The tool is partially covered with rubber to allow for a firm grip while using even with sandy, dusty or greasy hands and the tool also has a nice contoured thumb button for on/off control. The rotary dial for speed is marked from 5 to 35 to correspond with the revolutions per minute that the rotary tool can run at and located near the end of the tool by the power cord.

The tool has the removable collar near the collet to allow various tools and attachments connected to the rotary tool like the included sanding/grinding guide or the circle guide/straight edge guide. The tool that I received for review is the smaller of the three available kits that includes the rotary tool, the sanding/grinding guide, the circle/straight edge guide, 30 piece accessory kit, carry case and instructions.
The Dremel 4000 rotary tool can be used for all kinds of projects as well as hobbies and not just the models and crafts, do it yourself and around the house projects will certainly get a helping hand from a rotary tool. With my new home purchase I have found quite a lot of projects that can use the help of a rotary tool that can be used for drilling, grinding, cutting both wood and plaster as well as the usual sanding and polishing.
The Dremel 4000 has the performance and power to cut and sand as well as grind a wide variety of materials like cement, brick, wood, plaster and various metals. I find the rotary tool with the multipurpose cutting bit to be one of the most handy accessories included in the kit.
The multipurpose bit along with the sanding/grinding guide that is included or the optional multipurpose cutting guide that you can purchase for the tool makes cutting holes in plaster and lathe walls quite easy. Accessories like the sanding guide or cutting guide simply screw onto the front of the rotary tool and have an adjustable depth.

Simply screw the guides on and use them as a steady purchase for your cutting and grinding for projects like cutting outlet holes in walls or cabinets like I did. I have been using my previous Dremel tool since moving in and now the new Dremel 4000 for cutting through the plaster wall with lathe slats that also cuts through the nails and other metal.
I just finished a new project of adding outlets to a built in shelf in the kitchen for my coffee makers and cutting the wood was simple even when I hit the metal joint. The multipurpose bit slowed down but continued to cut through the metal joint holding the two boards together in the built in shelf.
The Dremel 4000 rotary tool is handy for a lot of those around the house projects with the included sanding and grinding wheels as well as the wire brush. With a few other additions the kit makes for a great do-it-yourself tool that makes a lot of jobs around the house and garage simpler and more fun as well as safer.
Cutting, grinding and sanding is simple with the variable speed so crafts and hobbies are easy with the lighter weight and control the contoured body gives. I have been using Dremel tools for years and have one of the tools from several years ago that is still going strong after about 15 years of use.
I occasionally buy new bits and accessories but having a kit that has a good assortment of bits and accessories saves you the time of having to run out and buy the ones you need for any given project. The kit I reviewed is the smaller of the ones available and the other ones with the Dremel 4000 have an even better selection of bits and accessories.

The 3/34 kit has the three main accessories of the sanding/grinding guide, the multipurpose cutting guide and the circle/straight edge guide with 34 bits and cutting wheels. The 6/50 kit has the previously mention accessories as well as the flex shaft and the lawn mower garden tool sharpening guide along with a lot of bits and the detail nose piece.
Each kit has the parts breakdown for the rotary tool so you can order parts if anything happens to your tool and a handy guide for using the tool safely around the home, shop and garage. The rotary tool has a lot of uses and I can tell you from a lifetime of experience that it is one of the handiest tools I have owned and used.
From around the house projects like removing grout, cutting tile, cutting holes and shaping wood and other materials to simple polishing of silver and even crafts and hobbies Dremel has a bit or attachment for just about any use. The Dremel 4000 rotary tool is also a tough tool and can take cutting through wood and metal easily.
I have plunged the multipurpose bit straight into wood 2x4’s without problems and the tool does not have a problem keeping up with cutting through old plaster and lathe which is quite tough. Around my house and in the garage I have put the Dremel 4000 to work on all kinds of projects over the last month and continue to be impressed with its power and performance that my drills just cannot keep up with.
The use of a rotary tool with variable speeds that go way higher than a conventional drill means you have the control and speed that tough jobs like grinding and drilling into tougher materials takes. The Dremel 4000 rotary tool is a great and highly useful tool around the house whether you’re just sharpening the mower blade or renovating your house.
I highly recommend the Dremel 4000 rotary tool that has the performance you need in a rotary tool for simple jobs to tough tasks. Dremel has also recently brought out a new concept in the cutting and sanding wheels that I just have to recommend you take a look at.
Even though I have not received the Dremel EZ Lock set from them I did spend my own money and purchased the EZ Lock Cutting Kit because I use these kinds of cutting wheels so often. The EZ Lock system is a quick connect mandrel that locks the inch and a half discs in both thin, thick and metal cutting wheels.

This is a great way to cut smaller materials like metal bolts using the rotary tool and the common cutting wheel standard that Dremel has been using for years but with a new innovative twist. The mandrel and cutting wheels have a keyed shape with two small prongs that hold the wheel in place when in use for a quick changing cutting wheel.
The EZ Lock system makes quick changing cutting wheels a simple and fast way to use them for jobs that require cutting wheels like the smaller ones I have used many times in the past. The EZ Lock system takes changing cutting wheels from a minute or two with the small screw and mandrel I have used so many times in the past to seconds with a quick change spring loaded mandrel.
Check out the EZ Lock system at your local hardware, home improvement store or online at Dremel.com for a great new quick change cutting wheel system that really works very well.
