Dreamweaver CS3

Page 2

Using Dreamweaver for the first time is a bit confusing but the tutorials and the help on the Adobe website makes it easy and frustration free. There are some little things that are apparent in website design that will not be readily understandable or known but you learn as you go along and much of what you do is easy. Some of the things that you learn about website design and working with website files come from working with the program and using it as much as learning from others.

I had very little help from my server provider but did get some help in the area of connecting using the particular paths I needed in the setup of my website. Beyond this I set up the entire site and put up several of my articles on my own. This in itself should say a lot about the ease that website creation can be using Dreamweaver CS3.

website management

You can quickly and easily be creating your own website with the step by step tutorials that are available from the tutorial disc that has on screen videos of the actual program so you can easily see what is going on. The absolute best way to use this is have the video or tutorial on one screen as you perform the actions on another with your copy of Dreamweaver CS3.

Dreamweaver CS3 uses a very nice setup with each page of your website available in three view modes; code, split code with design or design alone. The three views allow you to create your website using an image page called design so you can quickly position, align and correct your site pages easily. For more particular setups and using individual code you can go to split view to add code and immediately see what it does to your page using the split view. For adding code and working with it exclusively you can use the code view, this is especially useful for adding in Google Adsense ads or correcting errors.

split view editing

Setting up your site is done quickly and easily with the manage  menu and the wizard for website connections but you can also use the individual settings of the longer version which is not that tough to figure out. Once you have the website settings and the server settings creating the actual pages and working with them is done quickly and easily with templates. You can start with a blank template that has the areas you wish to use for your site and add your title, images and links.

Once you have a design you like you can save that as individual pages or as a template. Once you have created a template of your site any changes you make to the template can be changed throughout the site for easy site management. This works very well when creating larger sites so that any changes you need to make to every page of your site like a link can be done on one page and changed site wide. You can create templates for every type of page on your site and use these to create the actual pages quickly.
