Now I am again pleased to see a great product and now get to review this one from this same company and am overwhelmed with all this suite has to offer. The CyberLink DVD Suite 6 is a fantastic suite of programs for copying and just about anything else you could want to do with a DVD, CD, or other disc or with any kind of file, video or audio. There are also programs that edit photos and even do backups to disc or drives for a really complete file management system.
When you install and first open the DVD Suite 6 you have a first splash page with seven icons across the top that refer you to various pages of more choices. The first section is for your Favorites, a section you can add the most common programs you use. The next is your Music, audio, MP3, WMA CD and DVD or rip audio choices for all your audio needs.
The next page or icon is Data with Make a Blu-ray, HD and DVD or Cd from your data files. The third choice of main programs is your Movie Player where you can watch a regular DVD or high definition or Blu-ray movie. The fourth is the movie and video section with choices to Make the various movie DVD and CD’s as well as edit video and photos. The next is your copy and backup section that has simple and easy copy and backup routines just like full backup programs. The last is a Utilities page with things like create a disc image, burn an image, erase a disc and print a label.
Each program for creating a DVD or CD works very well and is as simple as possible to perform. Each program opens in its own windows with helpful information or appropriate files and links. Opening the Make an audio CD or DVD will open files on your computer with audio files like music on your computer and the desktop. The make a data CD or DVD will open with your usual Windows file tree on the side and the bottom of the page is where you can add your data files.
All these programs are simple and easy to use and even the edit videos and photos programs are easy and kept as simple as possible. I received this set of programs a month ago as I wanted to see how doing all the video editing with other programs would affect this one like the current problems I am having with my Plextor ConvertX capture device.
One feature that I really enjoy and that often is not part of an editing program is compression for videos. The DVD Suite 6 Ultra has a compression feature where you can compress a video or movie down to fit on a smaller disc. This may lower the quality of a movie but it will now fit on that 4.7GB disc instead of the larger 8.5GB one.
I could not find out what capture devices are supported like TV Tuners for the CyberLink DVD Suite 6 but the Plextor ConvertX is not one that works with it. My Panasonic Camcorder works fine and several other devices that I have tried like my digital cameras and even my microphone for audio capture shows up on the capture devices list when you open the CyberLink PowerDirector. I think capturing from a TV Tuner would be pretty much hit and miss with this program suite which is a shame as it works so well.
Once you have any video into your PC the CyberLink PowerDirector will edit and burn the video to a disc with ease. This is one of the only problems I saw with the program suite, compatibility with different capture devices. I saw no other problems even after installing other program codec’s and editing software and saw no conflicts or program errors using the CyberLink DVD Suite 6.
It would be very difficult to go over every separate program that comes with this suite of burning and backup software but you can be assured that this set of programs will cover just about any burning, CD and DVD creation and backup solution you could have for those all in one suites of software. The burning does included special backups like differential or incremental backups like regular backup software as well as scheduling and comes complete as a full backup software set which is a great surprise to me.
The entire set of programs works well and I really like having the Favorites to put all your usual programs in one spot for easy and simple work with your backups or copying. The entire set of programs work well and are simple and easy to use but you do have to look at the price of this software suite.
CyberLink DVD Suite 6 Ultra costs about $129 from their website currently but this set of software programs is a complete DVD and CD authoring and backup program and is a great buy considering what you get. The actual programs you would purchase separately to equal this full and complete set would cost much more so if you’re looking for a simple one stop shopping for a DVD and CD Playback and Creativity software set you could not go wrong with CyberLink’s solution.
I highly recommend CyberLink’s DVD Suite 6 Ultra for a complete software package for CD and DVD creation and editing, ripping burning and even printing labels for your collection.
