Rachel Brown Building Castles

Rachel Brown is a rising singer and songwriter with a style all her own fusing several different types of music to create something original in this world of pop star look a likes. With so many reality shows trying to bring new talent to the stage Rachel strikes out on her own and without any training brings several great songs to light.

Her style and natural talent have earned her the prestigious ASCAP Foundation Robert Allen Award for songwriting and the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame Abe Olman Award for Excellence in songwriting. She has been joined on stage by Wyclef Jean a few times and has been playing regularly at The Darby in New York City along with writing and producing her recent album.

The EP Building Castles is a bit light on numbers but the cost is also lower than usual to make up for only having six songs on her first album. The album includes her six songs five of which she wrote herself and one she wrote with Bill Lefler who is a songwriter and producer.

Rachel Brown has a sultry and soft voice but she can bring high notes along with her quieter tones and she includes the odd musical instruments like a ukulele with her songs. The songs are a sure mix with some softer feel good ones and one that reminds me of a throwback to the 1940’s and softly sung songs for troops.

She has a unique voice and interesting choice of tempo and beat along with her well-chosen lyrics for a great start in her career. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to her new songs and have definitely added them to my playlist I listen to all the time.

Check out Rachel Brown at iTunes or Amazon as well as her site with the links below and I highly recommend her new album Building Castles. If you’re near New York City try to catch her at The Darby before she gets more popular and her performances also get harder to attend.
