DEA: Detroit is a new hit TV show released on Spike TV that follows DEA agents as they work their way up the chain of command in drug organizations to stop the sale and flow of drugs. DEA: Detroit is a bit different than the usual Cops show in that it does not just follow the law enforcement officers around with a camera.
DEA: Detroit gives detailed information about how and why agents are fighting drugs and stopping the bad guys as well as showing a crucial aspect to their operation. Just arresting the bad guys is not stopping drugs from being sold so using the lower level dealers and runners as informants they find out who their suppliers are.
The DEA agents use this information to go after the higher level people in the organizations and offer reduced sentences or even plain freedom to criminals for this information. If they don’t bother with these lower level criminals they can concentrate and spend more effort and money going after the real problems facing them at the higher levels.
Many times they will let some of these lower level criminals go as they are more of a waste of time even prosecuting when the bigger crime bosses are much better for everyone to get off the street. Today many people know that taking down the low level drug runners and sellers really does nothing for the flow of drugs so the DEA uses them to get to the higher level criminal types to really hurt the drug organizations.
DEA: Detroit follows the agents as they move from one level to the next up the chain working with each person they arrest to get that much more information and useful intelligence into the criminal organization. The higher they go the more dangerous and risky the raids and busts are so the more they do the more dangerous their job is.
DEA agents do a great job of not only following the flow of drugs and money but of really making a difference into the world of drugs and criminal activity associated with it. DEA: Detroit does a great job of showing the general public how they are doing their job and the risks involved with it on a day to day basis from simple shootings to raiding drug stash houses and drug labs.
Some of the risky places they have raided include buildings filled with guard dogs, toxic gases from drug labs and even filth and garbage ridden buildings used to store drugs. Drug dealers and makers have used derelict and dilapidated buildings to try and hide from the police and DEA but agents are determined to take them down.
DEA: Detroit does a great job of showing the dangers involved as well as the weapons and equipment the agents use on a day to day basis in the show. The DVD is entertaining and does show a lot more than your average Cops show in the detail they follow and all the various aspects that are not usually shown on a Cops episode.
The DEA: Detroit show is a fun time as well as a serious look into the drug business and how agents are risking their lives to stop the drug business cold. Agents go home with a satisfaction that they are making a difference in the world and seeing them doing their job makes you appreciate what they are doing as well.
When you see the agents busting down doors to homes filled with drugs and dealers across the street from a school you can really get a sense of appreciation for what they are doing. DEA Detroit is a great DVD and the 2-Disc set contains a look at 2 whole operations into busting drug rings.
They take down low level drug sellers and work their way up to the top with plenty of gun toting and door busting action but no shots are fired throughout the filming. The action is all about the drug busts and how they go day to day and door to door busting bad guys without much in the way of gunfire.
One aspect that could have been delved into deeper is the personal lives of the agents and their families along with their personal reasoning for working in such a dangerous job but they do not. DEA: Detroit is all about the drug busts and arrests made to get higher up the drug food chain and not about the agents personal lives or feelings all that much.
The show does talk with agents a little but not enough to make things more personal with the audience but it does have more involvement and story than a regular episode of Cops. DEA Detroit is a good DVD set and does have some extras in other drug busts with a twenty two minute episode of Vice Cops.
The Vice Cops bonus is just like the DEA show with Vice cops doing their day to day work of busting drug and prostitution criminals. The extra show is only 22 minutes long which would be a half hour show with commercials so doesn’t add up to a lot but it is interesting.
DEA: Detroit is a great look into the Drug Enforcement Agency and the work their agents do to stop the flow of drugs into our country and onto the streets where we live. You can cheer along with the neighbors who live in the same streets as these drug dealers when the DEA agents take them down for good.
