The Bourne Trilogy

Jason Bourne is a trained assassin working for a top secret United States government agency doing what he does best, killing. Jason first gets rescued by some fishermen and has no memory of who he is or how he was found at sea and only has a wetsuit and a device implanted in his hip for clues.

A man onboard the fishing vessel who is the onboard medic cuts off the suit to reveal two gunshot wounds and the device sewn into Jason’s hip. Jason is concerned about who he is and what he will do but the men from the boat give him some money and send him off to find out about the bank account information from the device.

He finds money in different nationalities as well as several passports and a gun with loaded clips in the bank safety deposit box. In trying to find out who he is he uncovers a mystery that links him to several killings as well as the government agencies out to cover-up the truth behind who he is and what he has been used for.

In the first film we see him find out his cover name and some people behind the operation that created who he is and his last job of trying to assassinate a top African official named Wombosi. The assassination was supposed to be in a way that only the African dictators own men could have carried out the killing but Bourne fails in his assassination.

When Bourne sneaks out of hiding on the boat and puts a gun to the head of the African dictator his children wake up that were sleeping on their fathers lap and Bourne refuses to kill him in front of his kids. Bourne is chased off the boat and shot twice in the back resulting in his amnesia that starts off his whole escapade of running from the agency that created him.

He meets a young woman at the American Embassy in Zurich who is trying to remain in the country but cannot because she has no address for her Visa. Bourne offers her some money from the safety deposit box to drive him in her car to Paris, one of the cities on the passports with Bourne’s pictures.

At the apartment while Bourne is trying to figure out if the apartment is his Marie is only interested in taking a shower when a lone man bursts into the room through some French doors and attacks Bourne. They battle it out and Bourne ends up wounding the man severely and Marie grabs some papers from the bag the man had when he burst in.

The papers show pictures from the Embassy of both Jason and Marie and she panics and while Jason is trying to calm her down the man that attacked Bourne jumps out the window to kill himself before police arrive. Jason flees with Marie and they travel through several cities trying to elude the people the government project called Treadstone keeps sending after Jason to kill him.

The people running Treadstone think Jason has gone rogue and plans to either go public with the operation or give away information that will end the careers of those in charge of it. They try everything to stop Jason but he eludes all their attempts at killing him and eventually meets the one man I charge of the operation, Conklin, for some answers.

Conklin is in charge of Treadstone and tells Jason he has no choice but to come back to Treadstone but Jason tells him he is done and to leave him alone. Jason realizes through a memory that he tried to kill Wombosi and that the kids were the reason he did not so he decides he wants to leave the program for good.

A man named Abbott who is responsible for setting up Treadstone has Conklin killed after Jason Bourne but Jason kills several agents that Conklin tipped off with a silent alarm. Jason leaves to find Marie at her beach front rental business after Jason left her at her brothers farm after one of the attempts at killing Bourne.

In The Bourne Supremacy Jason finds out more about who is responsible for the Operation Treadstone project and other things when someone frames him for a murder. An agent of the CIA is selling files to someone else and some third party frames Bourne by placing his fingerprint on an explosive device used to cut the power to the building where the exchange is taking place.

Bourne races against the clock to first lose the agents who are now chasing him trying to discover the truth behind the killing and stealing of the money used in the selling of government files. In the Supremacy Bourne’s girlfriend Marie is killed by an assassin and he searches to find out who is behind this and why.

Bourne chases after the agent in charge of the file selling who now wants to find out who Jason Bourne really is and why he is running from the government. Pamela Landy is in charge of the investigation and when she sees some of the files on Jason Bourne she talks with the director to get full authorization into Bourne’s files and Treadstone.

She tries to find out more and eventually does not believe that Bourne is the cold blooded killer that Abbott says he is. Jason uses his natural skill and training to elude Abbott and Landy while finding out more about himself and all of them eventually ending up releasing information about Abbott and Treadstone.

Agent Abbott and Agent Conklin were using Treadstone for their own ends by killing people for money and only Jason Bourne could uncover the whole scheme. At the end of the second movie Abbott kills himself telling Pamela Landy that he is still a patriot to his country and Jason is on the run after telling the daughter of his first hit why he killed her parents.

The Bourne Ultimatum takes off about ten minutes after the second film with Jason on the run from Russian police and ends with him finding out his real name and identity as well as who was finally responsible for his training. He was part of a top secret military and CIA training program called Blackbriar to use military people as skilled assassins.

With his great skill he uncovers all this with the help of a few that do believe he is just a pawn in the game and not really responsible for his own actions other than just trying to stay alive. Throughout the movies there are some great scenes with plenty of action and adventure but the whole storyline is not all that hard to follow.

Some of the great scenes like Jason peering through a sniper scope as he talks with agents on a cell phone and gives away his position to them by telling them exactly what they are doing adds to the mystique behind Jason Bourne. One scene is great where Bourne is trashing the office of Agent Conklin while Conklin is rushing to the scene where he thinks he will find Bourne by following Landy for a meet with Bourne.
