Tigger & Pooh and a Musical Too

Winnie the Pooh is joined with some old friends and a few new ones, at least for me, in this musical fun filled computer animated film. Rabbit organizes a party and earns everyone’s gratitude for a fun time so they honor him as Mayor of Hundred Acre Woods.

Rabbit decides to straighten up the wood and makes some rules for everyone to follow but he finds out that getting everyone to follow all his rules is not as easy as it sounds. Tiger is the first to find a timed bouncing rule too hard to follow and breaks rabbits rule so he can bounce when he feels like it.

Why Rabbit wants Tiger to only bounce for such a short time is easy to see when Tiger is always getting into trouble with all his bouncing. Pooh also finds it hard to cut back on his honey and eat more carrots but Rabbit starts to see problems when Tiger runs out of fun things to do and just bothers others because he is not allowed to bounce.

Pooh accepts eating carrots even though he doesn’t enjoy them as much as his honey but he follows the rules as well just like others. Rabbit begins to see that everyone is not exactly as strict as he is but he just wants everyone to follow his rules so they can all just get along.

When Tigger bursts out in song and bounce he lands on Rabbit with Pooh elbow deep in honey close by and others are just as defiant by not following Rabbits rules. Rabbit gets fed up with everyone not following his rules and tells Tigger to go to his half of Hundred Acre Woods and stay there.

Rabbit goes out and draws a line across the wood to keep order on his side and let the others run amuck on their side with Darby and her dog Buster being allowed to roam freely. Yes, I did say Darby and Buster, The Disney Channel has added a few new friends with this new cartoon series of My Friends Tigger & Pooh that is regularly aired on the Disney Channel.

So when Rabbit and Tigger are leaders on their opposite sides and things do not work out as planned on both sides they do find out that having some rules are needed. But having too many rules is not as fun as Rabbit and his side of the Woods had hoped as well.

Throughout the film Rabbit, Tigger and others break out in song and dance to some snappy tunes but do not convince everyone that either side is better. Piglet is a little in the middle with both Rabbit and Tigger trying to convince him their side is better as the white line across Hundred Acre Woods happens to go right through the center of Piglets tree.

Pooh and even Tigger eventually figure out they not only miss things on the other side of that white line but the others as well. Rabbit eventually sees that everyone on both sides of the line can get along if they cooperate when he decides to have a picnic on his side and then Tigger does the same thing.

Both parties kind of fizzle when they both have individuals on the other side that are best at some part of the party such as Tigger organizing games or Kanga bringing food. Darby and Pooh come up with a plan and they hide Buster, then when everyone is concerned about Buster being missing they get together to go find him.

The whole gang from Hundred Acre Woods ends up rescuing Buster and finding out they used each other’s help to rescue Buster together. Darby and Pooh’s plan worked and they got Buster out of the cave he was hiding in by working together as a team.

Rabbit and Tigger end up getting back together when they are all thanking each other for helping rescue Buster and then everyone has to go back to their side of the line. Rabbit decides to not be mayor and erase the line so everyone can be friends and play with each other again and just be friends.

They all get together and have another wonderful party with a final song for the fun of it to end the film in song and dance. The DVD edition of Tigger & Pooh and a Musical Too comes with some great bonus content in the three ways to watch the movie and some other bonus content.

You can watch the film with the regular songs and fun or view the movie and sing along using subtitles to help you with the words to the songs. The Active Play and Interactive modes let you use your remote to answer questions or play a quick set top game during the film that allows kids to interact with parts of the film.

You can fast forward through the film using the remote to find these eight active and interactive segments so you don’t have to sit through the whole film. These three ways to watch the film are pretty good for a kids movie and add a lot of bonus content to an otherwise pretty decent movie.

Kenny Loggins does a pretty good music video created especially for this film with Pooh and the others added in while he sings for a unique video of “Underneath The Same Sky”. The bonus content is pretty good and the film is great for kids as a fun Winnie the Pooh film in the Winnie the Pooh tradition but made for the modern cartoon scene on Disney Channel.

My Friends Tigger & Pooh is the next generation of Winnie the Pooh and even though they have excluded some of the classic characters it does make it unique and fresh to add in some new ones. Tigger & Pooh and a Musical Too is a fun and musical adventure for kids that I think is pretty good with a unique collection of different bonus features.
