No Country for Old Men

No Country for Old Men stars Tommey Lee Jones as Sheriff Ed Tom Bell, Josh Brolin as Lleweyn Moss and Javier Bardem as Anton Chigurh. Llewelyn Moss is hunting in West Texas and finds a drug deal gone bad with the drugs and money still in the area.

When he takes the two million dollars and a machine gun he leaves behind one man wounded and asking for water to return later with some water for the dying man. When he arrives on the scene that night he finds the man has been shot and two men chase him into a river.

Arriving back home he rushes his wife to her mothers in Odessa so he can deal with the men he assumes is following him. He goes to a motel and hides the money in a ventilation duct and goes out for some shopping only to be followed.

Once he returns to the motel he gets another room to pull the money from an adjoining room because he pushed the money into the duct so it remained hidden. Chigurh finds the money using a transponder and goes to the room that Moss was in only to find three people already there.

Chigurh kills the men and looks for the money only to see the ventilation cover and pulls it off to see the dust was disturbed. Moss makes his way toward the Mexican border having narrowly missed the massacre in the motel and Chigurh follows him using the tracker.

Moss realizes someone is following him again and he searches the satchel the money is in to find the tracking device and Chigurh breaks into the room to fight him. Both are wounded but Moss gets away and hides the money while on his way across the border while Chigurh patches himself up.

A man named Carson Wells, played by Woody Harrelson, is hired by the owner of the money to find the cash and Chigurh. He finds Moss in a Mexican hospital and tries to get him to tell him the location of the money but Moss refuses.

Chigurh finds Wells who is close to finding the money and kills him and then tells Moss that he will spare Carla, Moss’s wife, if he gives him the money. Moss ends up getting killed and Chigurh finds the money with Bell hot on his heels.

In the end Bell does not find the money or Chigurh with a line of bodies following in the path of the money and Chigurh going free but having an accident before fleeing. No Country for Old Men is a very thrilling drama with plenty of blood and crime but a clear message about fate and circumstance.

The film is very good and well made with some great acting from all and very good direction from the Cohen brothers for an overall well made film. No Country for Old Men won four Academy Awards and was nominated for eight along with plenty of other awards.

The film was highly regarded and well received when it released and got a lot of attention and is now released on Blu-ray. The Blu-ray edition has a digital copy of the film as well as a making of feature, a feature about working with the Cohen brothers and a feature about the relationship between the Sheriff and Churigh.

The extra features are okay but the only one really worthwhile is the making of feature that goes into depth about the creation of the film. The other two features are quick, less than ten minute, features about the directors and the two main antagonists of the film.

No Country for Old Men is an excellent film and is well worth watching, the Blu-ray edition does come with the digital copy and the high definition features but not much in the way of bonus content.
