Entertainment does not get any better than this, the MythBusters team including Adam Savage, Jamie Hyneman, Tory Belleci, Kari Byron and Grant Imahara are set free onh some new myths and a few old ones. The MythBusters co hosts are Jamie and Adam but they have a lot of help from regulars Tory, Grant and Kari in MythBusters Season 5.
Season 5 has the team fully knowing what they are doing from suggestions and paperwork to final wrap-up of episodes and delivering an educational and entertaining show to the audience. MythBusters Season 5 is from the 2007 season and is a great show and so popular by now that it has a whole fan base with thousands of forum posts and even convention appearances for the stars.
To see just how good the show can be and how many people follow it one episode which was highly controversial also was highly talked about. The Airplane on Conveyor Belt myth has about 370 pages strong on the forum with 203,000 views so there is something here for people to talk about.
This may be an extreme example of a myth getting a lot of attention but it also shows that MythBusters does have a very large fan base and plenty interested in the show and its experiments. The show has so much talk on the internet that the show regularly revisits myths as well as uses fans suggestions to check out new ones for more MythBusting fodder.
Season 5 now has the MythBusters team and everyone else involved with the show fully experienced in myth techniques and how to bust theme as well as safety. For the most part the MythBusters does things with safety in mind and when appropriate, guns and explosives mostly, they do get professionals to help them.
The show does a great job of not only investigating and researching the myths they will be working on but working with the best professionals like medical and explosives experts. Police, FBI and Fire Fighters are common special guests, probably keeping a better eye on them than they know, but others like doctors and veterinarians help the MythBusters through some myths.
The show does a great job of explaining the safety involved and showing that even when they do get carried away they are doing things safely and you really should not attempt the things they do on the show at home. But we still have Adam saying in several episodes that this was his favorite explosion, it seems to me the current explosion is always his best and/or favorite.
Let's face it, in the end Adam and Jamie just like to blow things up, but first they do check out the current myth and try to bust it. MythBusters does a great job of checking out real world style whether these myths and other tall tales are real or based in fantasy only.
Can you run faster than a trail of gunpowder burning toward a keg and put it out, does a hot water heater ever pose a threat of blowing up like a bomb or is shooting fish in a barrel really an easy way to kill them. It's myths like these that the MythBusters take on and really show if there is any truth to them or they tall tales.
MythBusters Season 5 includes plenty of real world tales of disaster and smaller myths surrounding things like does a bull really chase red colored items or do dogs really have that great a sense of smell and ways to foul them. Explosions, household disasters and other myths are all explored and in many cases debunked but also surprisingly some are found to have at least some basis in fact or even fully declared confirmed.
The DVD set includes the 31 episodes with more than one myth per episode for a full season and a very great value of MythBusters. The video looks great and has a good real world style but the show does use both film quality cameras and high speed ones for some shots and experiments.
The episodes have a good quality video and audio with Dolby Digital Stereo for good clear sound for all the parts without any problems. Being a reality show this does have the cameras, microphones and crew not always being in the perfect position so at times things do not get the 100 percent clear sound or video but it all adds to the reality part of the show.
Even without the perfect audio and video the show does an excellent job with what it has and they do a great job of showing them trying their best to bust myths. MythBusters could not really get much better and this recent season 5 shows just how great they can be.
MythBusters is a great show and now in the fifth season they are fully experienced and more than comfortable letting loose and trying to bust those myths. This is how those school science experiments should really be done to keep your interest and be educational as well.
I cannot recommend MythBusters enough for anyone interested in myths and the experiments to prove and disprove them by a group of dedicated experts showing us how things work in a real world way.
