Mitch Fatel debuts on Comedy Central DVD with his take on what must be his favorite subject sex and brings his own unique style of comedy. Mitch has one of those unique styles where he brings the audience into his own private jokes and almost whispers things just like you would tell a secret.
He does this in an almost childlike manner that creates a great comedy style but he is too focused on sex and women in this Comedy Central release. Mitch Fatel Is Magical starts with a magic trick to bring Mitch on to stage and for almost an hour he discusses and jokes about women and sex.
This gets quite repetitive and annoying in that he only jokes about sex to the exclusion of everything else and tries to be entertaining but fails for me. The jokes are at times funny and did bring a smile but for an agonizing hour I kept hoping he would move on to other funny topics and waited, and waited.
His comedy is interesting and he does a good job at some of the jokes but seems like a new comedian just trying to find his way and getting quite lost in his favorite subject. He seems a bit too focused, almost perverted in his comedy special and you wonder how he has sold any other CD’s but this one is not sold as far as I am concerned.
Searching the internet I also found several other reviewers, not quite as harsh as I am, say that his style is different but his focus is too intense and narrow. I will not be so nice and while say some may like his comedy and say you just have to try it, don’t waste your time here.
Mitch Fatel Is Magical is a one hour look at how obsessed a man can be about sex that it seems almost perverted but don’t get me wrong he doesn’t swear and uses nicer language the whole time. His comedy is kind of odd, like being scolded by a teacher who has the best intentions and only wants you to do better but you still are getting scolded.
Mitch goes almost the whole hour talking about parts of women, sex and all the obvious topics about women and it does get boring and repetitive. Mitch Fatel Is Magical does have a few funny jokes but you have to sit through the show to wait for them so the comedy special is not really worth it.
His DVD special also has some bonus content in some interviews with fans, an animated special and outtakes but nothing that really adds any value to the DVD. The quality is pretty good and audio sounds just fine but with a single subject for his comedy the ratings on this comedy special are going to be low from me.
Mitch Fatel Is Magical is not worth the cost to even rent unless you’re a true fan of his style of comedy and want to hear an hour of sex jokes told from what sounds like a kid.
