The Pur Flavor Options Faucet Water Filter is an easy to install water filter that attaches to your faucet and filters water as well as adds flavor if you want. The Pur Flavor Options Water Filter has a side lever that redirects the water flow through the water filter and pressing the top button adds drops of flavor.
The Pur Water Filter is easy to install and comes with the filter housing, four washer & adapter sets for various faucet makes, a flavor cartridge and a filter. The instructions are easy to understand and using pictures and written instructions tells you how to install the adapter and filter housing.
The Pur water filter housing uses a quick connect fitting and the special adapters to make installing and temporarily removing the Pur filter quick and easy. The adapter has the threads on one side and a ridge that fits inside the water filter housing and snaps in place on the other.
Once you have the adapter on your faucet, removing the faucets aerator is mandatory if there is one, you simply find the adapter that fits and tighten it on. The filter housing snaps in place and once you install the filter and flavor cartridge your ready to go.
Using the filter or just running water through the housing without filtering is simple, turn on your water with the faucet handles and for running water straight through simply line the lever up with the lever housing. To have your water filtered through the Pur filter cartridge simply turn the lever down and water will go through the filter and out the spout under the Pur logo.
Pressing the button on the top of the front cover will add flavor from the cartridge that is under the front cover which is simple to exchange for another flavor or a new one. Pur sells flavor cartridges in Strawberry, Raspberry, Lemon, Peach and Grape flavored that cost about $10 for a 2 pack and are available at many stores like Wal-Mart and Target.
The Pur Flavor Options Faucet Water Filter costs about $50 and does come with one filter cartridge, replacement cartridges cost about $12 a piece. Installation is easy and using the Pur filter with or without the Flavor additive is simple as well.
I tried the water filter on a bathroom faucet and it worked just fine but did not leave much room for washing hands but it can be done. I then installed it on an older model kitchen faucet which it fit just fine but I did have to use some Teflon tape to get a watertight seal.
On my other installation it worked without installing tape for the seals and the plastic adapters work well but you may need some Teflon tape to seal the adapter on your faucet. I had no problems with the weight of the filter assembly pulling the filter off the adapter or faucet while using it but it is a bit heavy.
The flavor cartridges also adds a nice flavoring to your water, with enough you almost get a Kool-Aid taste to your water with about ten squirts. To get just a hint of flavoring only a couple are needed and kids will probably like the flavorings and being able to add them easily themselves.
The Pur water filter makes a great everyday filter to add the benefits of clean pure water to your drinking glass or pitcher. The Pur Flavor Options Faucet Water Filter works well and I have had no problems with installing and using it that is not blamed on an old faucet.
I did have to find a different fitting to fit the included adapters on for my much older kitchen faucet that is at least twenty years old. I easily found an adapter that fit my old faucet and one of the adapters that came with the Pur filter kit and it works great.
I started using the Pur filter on my bathroom faucet that is next to my kitchen for a couple of weeks and then installed it on the kitchen faucet I have upstairs. I have been using the Pur filter and have gone through one full flavor cartridge, raspberry, that is great.
I found myself getting water more often which was an added benefit helping me make sure I stayed hydrated with the flavor squirts in my water. The Flavor Options add just enough flavoring and sweetener to make the water more enjoyable and less like something you should do just to stay healthy.
You should drink more water than the occasional glass with a meal and the Flavor Options flavors give you an easy way to do just that. The Pur Faucet Water Filter makes a great way to get clean and enjoyable water for your glass or pitcher right from your kitchen or other sink.
I did find that you could add a Pur filter to other sinks than the kitchen but having a current faucet and sink also helps. I have enjoyed using the Pur faucet water filter and think it makes a great addition to anyone's home water filter requirements.
The cartridges are easy to replace and don't cost all that much which makes using them easy and only using the filter for drinking water instead of all the time makes good budget sense. The Pur Flavor Options Faucet Water Filter makes a great faucet filter that is easy to use and inexpensive enough for glass or a pitcher full of clean, healthy water.
