The Delta Lahara is a tall design lavatory faucet that has two handles and a curved design for a stylish modern look but with a comfortable elegant and classic feel. The two handle faucet I received for reviewing went straight into my new sink cabinet that I picked up at a garage sale.
Fear not as the sink and cabinet are new and the prior owner had gotten several before deciding this one was not for his new home and sold it. Actually there was talk of getting it from a friend who worked at a home improvement store and I just had to jump on it.
The sink and cabinet are one of the newer designs with the sink base smaller than the sink and rounded on the front where the sinks rounded front protrudes out. This means the base ends in a straight line where the front of the sink curves out from the cabinet to give the sink a stylish feel and the bathroom a larger look.
Installing the Delta faucet was quite easy and the set comes with both the faucet and drain kit including the tools to install the handles and the aerator. The handles needed to be attached and the aerator was already attached, you get these two tools for future use if you need them.
You will need some tools like a wrench, pipe wrench and probably some other things like plumbers putty for around the drain and Teflon tape depending on your supply line type. I had a simple installation, tightening supply lines that use the compression fittings so I did not have to use any tape for sealing against leaks.
The faucet set has a newer type of drain system that helps for installing it on a wide variety of sinks, even these newer types with odd drain holes. I had to use a good amount of plumbers putty when installing the drain but it went in easy and works great.
The drain has an easy hand tightening nut below the part you see in the bottom of the sink so that once everything is assembled correctly all you have to do is tighten the drain on by hand. The drain assembly also includes the pop-up assembly and pieces to connect the drains pop up to your handle.
The Delta Lahara is very easy to install and once installed looks great, my only problem is not having matching paint to touch up the walls. An entire paint job of the bathroom will have to wait, low on the list of required repairs on my home but till then the new sink looks great and the Lahara shines.
One thing I have noticed a lot about the newer faucets is the variety of heights they come in, mostly the arch height and the height of the aerator. The aerator of the Lahara is about four inches and the arch is about 6 1/2 inches above the countertop level.
I received the stainless steel version which has a brushed appearance and is not all that shiny, it looks like a brushed nickel but has the stainless steel durability. The Lahara is a very nice looking faucet and looks great in my downstairs bathroom, more than good enough for company to use.
I have not had a single problem with the faucet since installing it and it was very simple to install, the kit comes with everything prepared to install and with well made components. The Lahara is a durable and very well made faucet and even though the warranty does not cover parts like the valves inside the faucet I know from past experience these are also well made.
The valve cartridges are designed to make replacement a simple process of just having to remove the handle and nut then removing and replacing the cartridge. The hex key that comes in the kit is for these handles and keeping these tools in a spot with other specialty tools for your plumbing is a good idea.
The Lahara lavatory faucet is a great faucet and easy to install with all the specialty tools you would expect to find in the kit. I highly recommend the Delta Lahara for a great faucet at the reasonable cost of about $120 and it does have a great warranty as well.
