Braun Multiquick 7

The Braun Multiquick MR 700 hand mixer is a fantastic and powerful hand blender for the mixing, blending and other food preparation work. The Braun MR 700 is a 220 volt appliance but it easily works well for tough ice cube chopping jobs on half the voltage like in the United States.

The Braun hand blender comes in two different models that come with a chopping attachment or stainless steel cup but the main motor and detachable blade section that comes with both are the main features. The Braun MR 700 hand blender has the two round prong power plug but it works just fine with a European to United States adapter that is commonly available for travel in stores.

The Braun model I received for reviewing is the Braun model MR 700 while the other model is MR 730, both models have the main hand blender motor and blade section attachment. The model I received has the stainless steel cup and the slightly more expensive model has a chopper attachment and both have a manual for using both models.

The stainless steel cup is the greatest for making shakes and cool drinks like coffee coolers or smoothies and is, I think, the better model. The MR 700 hand blender is a hand blender designed for crushing and chopping using the single blade with the two cutting edges.

Motor and Blade Ends

The end of the blender attachment has six points that protect the blade from hitting the bottom of the cup and allows liquid to circulate and get blended. The blade of the blender is sharp enough to cut ice cubes easily and any type of food I have tried like nuts and even coffee beans.

I had no problem doing a rough grind on coffee beans which is about the hardest food I can think of that you could want to blend aside from ice. I have no problems grinding and chopping full one inch square ice cubes to make my favorite coffee coolers.

The Braun MR 700 hand blender has plenty of strength that is adjustable from two switches for half and full power at a one to fifteen setting using the dial on motor section. There are two switches on the motor section of the hand blender that give you half power or full power at any of the fifteen settings on the dial.

The lower settings are great for stirring and blending while the medium speed on about 8 at half power is perfect for that chopping ice for coolers. Shakes and such are also at about this setting because if you go much higher the liquid will start to splash out of the stainless steel cup.

I have tried using the blender on higher settings for things like pancakes and it works great for thicker liquids and batters. The Braun hand blender works great at blending, making shakes and drinks as well as pureeing things like squash and potatoes.

Controls and Blade

I have made mashed potatoes which works great for a quick way to mash as well as mashed squash that is a favorite of mine that is easy with the hand blender. I have also made artichoke dip and had no problems pureeing the artichoke and spinach with the other ingredients in later stages.

The Braun Multiquick does an exceptional job at just about anything I tried like dips, potatoes and more but works the best on drinks and shakes. The Multiquick works great on full sized ice cubes and frozen fruit or those coolers and smoothies that are quick and easy to make.

The Braun Multiquick immersion hand blender also comes apart for very easy cleaning so you can totally wash the blade end in dishwater or the dishwasher. The motor section of the hand blender has two push buttons that are used to hold the blade section on.

Whats in the Box

The end of the blade section has a cross plastic blade that corresponds to the hole of the motor section where the two pieces fit together. The motor section and blade end fit together easily and there is no problem with the ends lining up due to the tapered end of the motor section.

The two buttons that attach the blade section are rubber covered so that no liquids or food get into the motor section and the detachable blade section makes for an easy to clean hand blender. The blade section is easy to wash just by rinsing or swishing around in a sink of dishwater and rinsing or you can use the dishwasher for a thorough cleaning.

The Braun Multiquick is the perfect international hand blender for travel as it has the common European power plug and with a simple adapter available at Wal-Mart or many other stores you can use it in the United States. I had no problems using the Braun Multiquick and have very much enjoyed using it for this review.

The Multiquick 7 will continue to be a mainstay of my kitchen for those quick drinks and shakes or simple dishes like dips or mashed potatoes. I highly recommend the Braun Multiquick for an exceptional hand blender that works exceptionally well on either 110 or 220 volts.
