Pizza Delivery Boy

Pizza Delivery Boy for the Wii is a new food Sim game by Majesco where you must save a failing pizza restaurant by combining your cooking skills with your driving talents to deliver your creations. Pizza Delivery Boy could actually have been a great game with a little more fine tuning but it actually turns out to be a slightly frustrating game for the most part.

Pizza Delivery Boy starts you off with a little introduction telling you how you have to save the business by making pizzas and then delivering them. You start the game by creating the pizzas ordered using the Wii remote and joystick as a simple tool and selecting then placing ingredients.

Once the pizza is completed its time to fire up the oven and get that pizza cooked to perfection then delivered on time using your scooter. The order is shown with a simple picture of what's to go on each pizza and you simply move to the prep area with its variety of components for the current pizza.

Each pizza is different and you simply pick up each ingredient and put it where the order shows to create the pizza the customer ordered. When the pizza is completed in the allotted time you pop it in the oven and get the final score for your cooking attempt.

Making the pizza means memory games, you have to remember what goes where on the pizza and you can look back at the order screen but that adds to the amount of time it takes. Each order has a limited amount of time so this peek at the order costs you valuable time and the cooking is a basic score update.

Once the score is tallied you are paid for each pizza that was not a failure and now comes the delivery where you get to scoot around to try and make the delivery in the allotted time frame. The scooter handles like a skateboard going thirty but you can eventually make your rounds of deliveries and even get side missions later.

Delivering the pizzas does not work well and several times I had to retry a delivery to see if I could make it in time to continue on with the game. You must make so many deliveries before the game allows you to move on so much of the frustration is the fact you have a slow vehicle that is difficult to steer using the Wii controls.

Once you have made some deliveries you end up getting some time off where you can complete some side missions like other delivery jobs or some cooking practice at other restaurants. These side missions amount to just a variety of screens and jobs just like the pizza delivery and cooking with other businesses such as a florist or grocery store.

Pizza Delivery Boy is alright but it takes a lot of effort to get to some of the better vehicles and there is always this thing with time hanging over you so you are always feeling rushed. The games graphics are alright but again with a little more work it could have been much better but controls is where the game seems to falter.

Making pizzas takes a lot of small shaking and grabbing things and driving is not much better but making the pizzas is hard with placing objects, the worst is the cheese. Delivering is just one part but the game could have been tweaked a little more for a better overall effort and as it is adults will probably not get much fun out of it.

Kids should have some fun and if they enjoy a variety of quick driving and a little fast food handling it should provide some sort of entertainment for youngsters. Pizza Delivery Boy is alright and a little above average but not really worth much more than a rental if you can find it.

The only concern I have with younger ones getting their hands on this Wii title is the poor driving ability using the remote and the poor controls while making pizzas. Both driving and making pizzas will take a bit of getting used to and kids may get a little frustrated at working toward mastering these motions.

Other than this Pizza Delivery Boy is an alright title and one that would make a good rental unless you're a fan of cooking type sim games. Pizza Delivery Boy makes for an interesting game and for younger adults or kids may be some fun but only worth a casual glance in a rental and not a purchase.
