SanDisk has released their 8 gigabyte micro SD card that performs just as well as other SanDisk SD and micro SD cards but built for high capacity. SanDisk also sent me the SanDisk ImageMate All-in-One USB 2.0 Reader/Writer and the SanDisk MobileMate Duo to add to this fun look at current micro SD cards.
The SanDisk micro SDHC is a high capacity secure digital card for use in mobile products like media players, mobile phones and GPS units for high capacity storage in a small package. The 8 GB micro SD card I received really is small, smaller than my thumbnail actually.
The SanDisk 8GB micro SDHC card can hold a whopping 1000 mp3 songs, 600 JPG photos 3.6 hours of video and leave 1 gigabyte for other things like GPS data. The card really can add a lot of storage to a cell phone or other mobile device that you would want the extra space on and only costs about $45.
I also received a really nice ImageMate All-in-One Reader/Writer that connects to your computer using the included USB cable for reading SD, mini-SD, Memory Stick PRO & Duo, compact flash and micro sd without an adapter. The Reader/Writer connects to your computer with common USB 2.0 connection and has the four slots on the front for the variety of cards it can accept.

The All-In-One comes with a stand that uses a magnet to hold the ImageMate in an upright position for easy placement on your desk or work area and is compact for easy storage in your laptop bag. The other piece of this trio of great products is the MobileMate Duo which is a nice handy way to deliver your data and other information from your computer to your SanDisk micro SDHC card without any fuss.
The MobileMate Duo consists of a micro SD to SD card adapter and the USB Reader for micro SD cards that easily makes a great set for quick and varied connection options for your micro SD cards. The micro SD to SD card adapter is your typical SD card look alike that has a slot on the back side for the micro SD card while the USB reader also has the USB male connection on one end and the micro SD slot on the other in a small package.
The heart of this group of micro SD products is the 8GB micro SDHC card that performs as well as any other SD cards and mciro SD cards I put up alongside it. The SanDisk performs with a Class 2 rating which means it can transfer at 2 megabytes per second while transferring data at a minimum.

I tested both the micro SDHC card, the ImageMate reader/writer and MobileMate Duo reader and found that the card as well as the readers performed well for read and write testing with results about the same as other cards and readers. The results show most of the data read and write operations perform close to the same for the four memory cards I tested and the readers made almost no difference.
The tests I performed using the SiSoftware Sandra Professional Benchmark and Atto Bench32 programs showed consistant and repeatable results for all the cards and readers. I checked the cards and readers using the same tests and repeated them to make sure I was getting good results as well as used both programs to check against each other.
I was getting a read performance of 500 to 20,000 megabytes per second depending on file size when reading and writing to the SanDisk 8GB SDHC card. Other cards I regularly use were getting results very close to this and the reader does not make any difference from my results.
Write performance is usually lower and for tests I was getting from 200 to 6500 Megabytes per second as an average for my tests which is good for memory cards. I tried four different memory cards, two SD cards and two micro SD cards and found that they all performed near the same read and write speeds.

The SanDisk 8GB micro SDHC card performs just as well as others and the card does perform as well as the company expects with well over the 2 megabytes per second rate for the class of card. While a better computer system with the most current USB specifications and a really well built motherboard may get better results you are not going to get much more average results for testing memory cards.
The SanDisk memory card does perform well and even at 200 megabytes per second for write speeds you can fill the 8GB card in something like 40 seconds under perfect circumstances. Using a regular system this may take longer but the results are pretty good for read and write speeds.
The SanDisk 8GB SDHC card does perform well and the pairing of the memory card with the MobileMate Duo makes a great package for using a micro SD card at home or abroad. The ImageMate All-in-One card reader makes reading a wide variety of cards easy and in a convenient package that is easily portable.
The SanDisk 8GB micro SDHC memory card is perfect for those high capacity situations like music and video for players and all around use for cell phones. The SanDisk ImageMate All-in-One reader/writer is the perfect desktop solution for memory cards both at your desk and on the go.
The MobileMate Duo is a great micro SD card set for use with either the USB connection or the adapter to use the card in an SD card slot on your device or for reading in an SD card reader. I highly recommend the SanDisk 8GB micro SDHC card for a good regular memory card solution and the ImageMate and MobileMate Duo for all your micro and memory card connectivity solutions.
