Razer Moray+

The Razer Moray+ is a recent modification of the original Razer Moray adding not only a microphone to the original but a few adapters to make mobile audio a pleasure and much easier. The Razer Moray is a great noise isolating ear bud set and Razer has taken it to new levels with the addition of an inline microphone and adapters.

Along with adapters to connect to the Apple iPhone, iPod, PlayStation Portable 2000 or 3000, Nintendo DSi or DS Lite the set comes with the regular 3.5mm PC or MP3 player connection. The adapters basically convert the 3.5mm combines connection to separate audio and microphone connections so you can connect the headset to all the various devices.

The Razer Moray+ is a nice earbud style stereo headset that is about four feet long and ends in a 3.5mm miniplug for connecting to the iPhone or other Apple devices and uses adapters to connect to more handhelds. You can use the two adapters included to connect to popular handhelds like the Nintendo DS Lite, Nintendo DSi, Playstation Portable 2000 and the PSP 3000.

Another adapter is included that splits the 3.5mm stereo with microphone to an individual 3.5mm stereo and separate microphone connector for use with PC’s or other devices. The split is short and makes for a nice adapter to use with your PC but the 3.5mm miniplug and 3.5mm polug ends are a bit short in length as well.

Whats in the Box

While connecting you have the shorter length of the ends to push on or when pulling out that does not have much room to grab but this was the only drawback I found, the shorter ends to grip on to. Other than that connectivity and use was fantastic and could not be much better for stereo ear phones which I tried out on several different devices.

Listening to tunes on the Nintendo DSi or my Sansa View was great as the earbuds are not only quite comfortable but sound great. The earbuds are clear and crisp and the only problems are in the lower end of bass but no earbuds are that good at deep bass.

The earbuds have three sizes of earbud sleeves for various sized ear canals so you are pretty sure of a good fit and the comfort of tight fitting earbuds also means good noise isolation. I could hardly hear things outside my personal environment while sitting in my office listening to music or gaming and you can forget about hearing things like people working in the backyard.

The Moray+ sounds really good and you do get the convenience of an inline microphone for those gaming moments on your Nintendo DS or on your PC. The microphone works very well at picking up sounds all around so if you want to have a private conversation on your cell phone like the iPhone you may be a bit disappointed.

The omnidirectional microphone does a great job of picking up sound all around you but it is not that much of an inconvenience when gaming like talking to your clan. After all if your gaming you shouldn’t be sitting in the same room as others watching TV, I just find that annoying on my end of the line.

Razer has done a great job of improving and adding to the features of the Moray to provide gamers, and anyone who wants a great and versatile headset, with features they want. The two adapters for the Nintendo DS and the PlayStation Portable are specific to those two handhelds but the 3.5mm adapter works with cell phones such as the iPhone and other devices.

The microphone works well for voice in both gaming and as a regular microphone for cell phones but the earphones work exceptionally well for all kinds of listening enjoyment. I highly recommend the Razer Moray+ as a fantastic microphone earbud style headset that costs about $50.
