The next in line for the Backbeat earphones from Altec Lansing is the Pro model UHP606 with studio grade full range miniaturized speakers with built in amplifiers. The Backbeat Pro is the top of the line musician quality in ear headphones for use with a stereo system, PC or mobile gadget for the best audio quality.
The Backbeat Pro comes with the headphone set itself, four neoprene tips in various sizes and a carry pouch to keep things organized. The Backbeat Pro earphones have small earpieces and very short sleeve protectors near the base of the earphones for a small and light weight ear piece.
They kept the size down to a minimum it seems to me to add to your comfort as the ear pieces do fit well once you put on the correct size neoprene tip. I highly recommend trying a couple of the tips and getting the right fit for your ears as this makes all the difference not only to sound quality but to noise isolation and comfort.
The headphones have a small ear piece that fits well in my ears and the lack of a larger piece or sleeve around the cable for use in placement is not really needed. The cables are coated but obviously braided inside in a single line from each earpiece and is attached side by side at the plastic piece that keeps the cable from splitting apart.

The common audio plug has a bent elbow that is nice for easy insertion and removal in all your audio devices with 39 1/2 inches of cable from cable split to audio connection. Each ear piece has 12 inches of cable to each ear piece from the split for a nice length around your head.
The cable is made with an oxygen free copper inside and coated with a PVC plastic to make the cable easy to untangle and to prevent tangles in the first place. The cable works well as it has a slicker feel and does not allow the cord to snag on itself so it does work to keep tangles down to a minimum.
The Backbeat Pro fits well and noise cancelling is that great mix of getting rid of outside noises and disturbing background sounds but allowing louder and distinct sounds through like telephones or doorbells. The noise isolation allows for better audio quality but does not totally get rid of outside sounds so you can still hear some things going on around you.
The noise isolating or cancelling is accomplished by a tight fit of the flexible neoprene SnugFit tips for passive noise reduction. I can still hear very faintly the burbling of my fish tank that is right next to my desk area if there is no music or sound playing so the sound isolating does work well but not totally which is a good thing.
The neoprene tips fit snuggly on the ear phone ends and when you get the correct tip that fits your ear it makes for not only a comfortable fit but good noise isolation. The Backbeat Pro fits very well and sounds great for a studio quality earphone set, I have several earphones with this and a couple of others in the same price range that all sound very good.
It would be hard to say which is the best and would be more subjective but the Backbeat Pro is a fantastic sounding earphone set that really does rival my surround sound headphones that are full over the ear headsets. While the Backbeat Pro is not a surround sound earphone set they do make audio and music sound great and add a depth to the sound that other earphones and in ear headphones have lacked that I have tried.
Bass is great and high tones sound clear and crisp for a great range of sounds that work well on the small headphones for a great audio experience. Listening to various music and audio test patterns you can really differentiate the high, medium and low tones and notes for a good broad range of sound quality.
All across the spectrum of sound you get clear and definite good quality so the Backbeat Pro headphones really are worth the cost of about $100. The Backbeat Pro headphones are really a studio quality headphone if you want the great audio and in ear convenience of a headphone set that is not surround sound.
I highly recommend the Altec Lansing Backbeat Pro Headphones for a high quality in ear head phone set for PC, mobile media and stereo use.
