Razer Naga Molten Gaming Mouse

I really do not get into the flash of LED lighting like some gamers and computer enthusiasts but I do enjoy a few things about esthetics in my computer and peripherals. The classic look, especially piano black, of a well-made mouse or keyboard and a simplistic but useful design really make a product stand out to me.

Razer has released a new edition for their massive multi player online gaming mice in the Razer Naga Molten Special Edition MMO Gaming Mouse. The MMO feature of an additional 12 buttons for thumb use on the side of the mouse make for a wide selection of button assignments.

The Naga Molten also has the regular finger buttons, two side buttons and the scroll wheel with click button when you press on it for a full 17 buttons on the mouse. The mouse features on/off  control of the Molten symbol on the palm area of the mouse as well as the scroll wheel using the Razer driver program.

The program is available as a download from Razer and includes the drivers for the mouse and a program that sits in your taskbar and allows for full configuration and assigning buttons. You can also download an add-on for a couple games that integrates the mouse with Warhammer and World of Warcraft so the mouse is fully a part of the in games settings.

Whats in the Box

The Naga Molten comes only with the USB corded mouse and instructions along with two sets of silicone trainer stick ons for helping you get used to the mouse side buttons if needed. These stick on pads that are round or square are much like the bumps on a keyboard to give you a tactile feel for a particular home key that you choose.

The Razer Naga Molten has only the red color scheme for the  Razer logo on the palm area, the scroll wheel and side buttons so you better like red for the color scheme. You can choose to have either the logo or the side button and scroll wheel lighting on or off from the Razer driver program at least.

Other main features you can select are any choice of keyboard and programing functions for any of the 17 buttons on the mouse and a wide selection of special features. The buttons can be programmed for single key or click, special macro programming and opening programs using their applications.

Macros can be used in games so that when you press the button a single or multiple functions occur such as pressing and holding one key and pressing another key. The Razer Naga Molten has two side buttons for use as back and forward or whatever you want to assign for general computer use and in gaming as well.

The Naga Molten is an MMO gaming mouse, I could not see someone who does regular first person shooter gaming purchasing this so it does have its niche customer base. The Razer Naga worked well and the braided USB cable is plenty long for gaming and computer use at six and a half feet.

The Razer Naga Molten works well but you do have to get used to it, some buttons of course are more easily used than others for the side ones. I found it difficult to use the bottom row and back row of buttons that are toward the desk and toward my wrist while actually gaming.

Front of Razer Naga

The front and top buttons are easier to use and I did assign them to more commonly used functions and items in my gaming while playing Fallout, Aion and Sacred 2. The Naga Molten works well enough but you have to get used to the thumb acrobatics needed to make full use of the side buttons.

The size also works better for smaller hands and the Razer Molten does work well in MMO games and for general gaming along with the time we have between our fantasy worlds. The Razer Naga Molten gaming mouse is a great mouse for gaming with the additional side buttons you can use for common controls in multiplayer gaming.

The Razer Naga Molten costs about $80 and is available at some computer stores and online at Razer and other internet sites like Newegg and Amazon. I highly recommend the Razer Naga Molten for a unique MMO gaming mouse with classic looks for those who enjoy their gaming and want to stand out.
