Think Tank CityWalker Messenger Bag

The CityWalker 30 is a full sized messenger bag that measures about 16 by 11 inches and is 8 inches deep that can easily fit two DSLR camera bodies with lenses attached and a spare lens. The laptop compartment is padded to protect a full 15 inch laptop or a tablet but there are other places to store smaller items including tablets with a padded pocket in front of the main storage area.

The messenger bag features a removable camera insert that has padding to protect the camera and lenses you want to store along with the extra hook and loop secured dividers. This main padded compartment has two large hook and loop strips on the front and back and another two on the bottom to secure the compartment in the messenger bag.

In organizing the removable padded compartment I could fit two Canon Eos Rebel cameras with 70-200mm lenses attached or one camera and a couple of spare lenses. The insert has enough padding to protect your expensive DSLR cameras and does come with the removable hook and loop secured dividers.

You can easily remove the compartment with or without cameras in the compartment to use the messenger bag as a book bag for class or to carry other business related materials like brochures and folders. The main compartment easily fits two or three full sized class books, to give an example of size I fit three reams of copy paper easily into the main area.

CityWalker Camera Insert

The main compartment has a large zippered pocket toward the front which has padding toward the front and makes a nice spot to carry a tablet or folders if you need the extra storage. The padded laptop or tablet compartment has a hook and loop strap to secure your electronic device but has a loop strap on the inside for keeping the strap out of the way when not in use.

A main feature of Think Tank camera bags has been the silencing option for the hook and loop closures on the main flaps of bags and the CityWalker is no different with its two large hook and loop closures on the outer front flap. You can use the hook and loop to secure the front flap or silence the hook and loop closure strips and just use the Dual Cross Buckle that is also on the front flap.

The front flap has a zippered pocket on it and the back of the CityWalker has a hook and loop closing pocket for quick access to papers, thinner  books,  magazines or even a clip board. The front pocket has a hook and loop flap and is perfect for those smaller items with a couple larger pockets and some smaller ones for memory cards and writing utensils.

The sides of the CityWalker have an elastic topped pocket perfect for the rain cover or for bottles of water or a drink and the rain cover can easily be installed quickly with the usual Think Tank designed cover. The rain cover uses clips and the elastic form fitting design to secure the cover in place but quickly packs into its own pocket that is part of the cover when not in use.

CityWalker w/out Insert

The CityWalker has a smaller top handle for easy carrying when you don’t want or need to the use the larger shoulder strap but this carry handle moves out of the way when not in use. The main shoulder strap is padded and has a nonslip cushion with adjustable buckles at both ends to adjust from either side or both.

I recently helped the wife at a craft show and wanted to take along the camera to snap a few shots of the booth she set up and tohelp with the electronic gadgets we were using at the show. The CityWalker 30 easily fit two tablets and a digital picture frame, a 15 inch laptop, the Canon Eos Rebel XT with two spare lenses and all the little things like a spare battery, charger, Compact Flash Card Adapter and wallet of SD cards.

The bag has compartments that make storing a wide assortment of laptop adapters and power cords, the smaller items like the battery charger and CF adapter along with the usual pens and stylus easily to keep everything convenient. The CityWalker 30 is a great size to use as a professional photographer on location or just a student who likes photography and wants the convenience of having his laptop and tablet along with the camera and some lenses.

You can easily fit a good assortment of cameras and lenses but would work as easily with a camcorder along with with all the little accessories a camera system has. The CityWalker line has three colors and three sizes for smaller, medium and larger uses and can fit from a ten inch tablet up to a 15 inch laptop.

CityWalker w/ Raincover

The cloth of the CityWalker is made from DWR coated nylon or polyester but all the materials are excellent quality and are made with the highest durability in mind and well put together. I have yet to see any of the Think Tank products I have been using split or tear and all the bags I have received have been used often in field conditions like those craft shows and our various wanderings in parks to snap a few pictures of the wildlife.

The CityWalker is a double duty camera bag and messenger bag that easily converts to carry your DSLR cameras or camcorders along with other gear and a laptop or tablet. This is not an inexpensive bag that will wear out any time soon and the company stands behind their products with a No Rhetoric Warranty which is guaranteeing the materials and workmanship of their products.

Think Tank has a great policy for their warranty which is actually an extremely truthful statement talking about other companies lifetime warranties being more marketing gimmick than the truth. Think Tank uses the best and most durable materials and high quality workmanship such as YKK zippers and Duraflex fasteners.

Think Tank does stand by their products as well as offers repair services from that normal wear and tear or accidents for a reasonable. The CityWalker has a lot of double stitching, dual layers of material and those other great tested features many of their other products have been using for years.

DSLR & Two Lenses in CityWalker

I highly recommend the CityWalker messenger bag from Think Tank for a convenient and very customizable messenger bag for anyone wanting a laptop or tablet bag that can double as a camera or camcorder bag.
