The Kata Waist Pack W-94 is a professional quality camera waist pack for in the field use to carry all your stuff in one easy fitting and comfortable pack. The waist pack has a carry strap for quick trips, the rubber carry handle and the waist belt with comfortable fitting padding and side adjusting secondary straps.
The Kata Waist Pack W-94 is the ideal in the field waist pack for your DSLR or film camera for both the camera and extra lenses as well as accessories. You can fit a regular body film or DSLR camera and other lenses with plenty of room for a good assortment of accessories including two side pockets for shorter lenses.
The Kata Waist Pack comes with the waist pack itself, a rain cover and pouch, the detachable carry strap and four padded dividers. The top zippered opening opens outward from your body when wearing the waist pack for ease of getting at your camera or accessories.
There is also a front zippered opening to allow access to your camera or accessories from the front of the pack for even more flexibility. The two side pockets are big enough to fit shorter lenses such as the regular 18-55mm Canon lens that usually comes with the Canon camera or my new Tamron 18-250mm lens.
Depending on how you configure the inside compartment with the padded dividers you can easily fit the camera body with a longer lens or a shorter lens with the longer lens detached. The waist pack has a lot of room and even has a zippered compartment on the lid for carrying smaller and flatter objects like filter pouches and manuals. The zippered compartment is plastic lined for added waterproofing as well as the rain cover that easily slips over the whole pack whether wearing it or not.
The Kata Waist Pack is padded well to protect your camera and lined with Yellop, a yellow almost flannel material for scratch resistance and high visibility of your stuff inside. It is really easy to see your usually darker camera accessories inside the yellow colored interior while out in the woods taking shots even in low light situations.
The waist pack has a very comfortable strap for carrying the bag over your shoulder but the waist strap is also very comfortable having a secondary strap attached by your sides. The waist strap attaches to the bag and has a second strap for added adjustment and to help pull the strap away from your waist on the sides a bit while wearing.
The bag is semi rigid so the form fitting to your body is almost there but it helps to have it slightly rigid so you have protection against bending the waist pack and contents. The secondary straps help hold the waist bag on your waist comfortably and has an adjustment for getting the bag to that just right fit.
The main waist strap has two stretch loops for holding down the extra strap on the ends and has a quick release buckle for fast removal in the field. The waist pack is very comfortable and I had no problem wearing it all day long while hiking and biking in the woods of a local wildlife refuge.
The Kata Waist Pack W-94 is a great bag to carry your precious and expensive camera equipment and well worth the purchase for a professional quality bag for field work. The pack is very comfortable and does not pinch or move around while hiking and has that just right contour to be comfortable even when fully loaded.
I have used the pack and must say I was skeptical at first seeing the pack and how its back was rigid for not allowing you to turn the pack while wearing around your waist. You can wear the pack in front or back but also quickly loosen the secondary straps and turn the pack easily on your waist for access without taking the pack off.
The secondary straps add that nice simple adjustment to the waist strap for easy and convenient adjustment that is separate from the main buckle. The Kata Waist pack holds plenty for field work and does have the rain cover for quick water protection as well as the padding to protect the contents.
The Kata Waist Pack W-94 makes a great field pack and for those intermediate times going to and from does work well as a carry bag for your photography equipment. The shoulder strap is also comfortable and the handle is also a convenience for moving around the bag and carrying out to the car.
