Kuhn Rikon Hotpan

The Kuhn Rikon Hotpan is a specialty cookware pot and holder for fantastic cooking in several sizes to create those chef quality dishes. The Hotpan is a solidly built cooking pot that comes in 1 quart to five quart sizes and has a great double walled lid and melamine holder for keeping food warm and tables safe. The melamine holders come in a variety of colors form plain black or white to colorful blue, red, green and orange.

The Kuhn Rikon Hotpan is a quality 18/10 stainless steel constructed pot that has a unique lid for keeping the steam and flavors inside the pot. The walls of the pot are thick with a super solid heat efficient core on the base for even cooking. The base is about a 1/4 inch thick with its aluminum core for even heat distribution, the sides and polished stainless steel exterior make for easy cleanup and rust resistance.

Whats in the Box

According to the company the thick bottom works well on conventional gas ranges and electric ranges but I cannot tell you for sure as I only have an electric range. Usually the gas stoves do very well with all cookware and it’s the electric ranges and stovetops that make for some picky cooking. I had no problems using the Kuhn Rikon Hotpan on my electric range with its uneven heating elements as a few of mine are not exactly flat with the continued use I have put my stovetop elements through.

The handles on the Hotpan are a nice size to keep out of the way on the stove yet large enough for easy gripping even with cooking gloves or oven mitts on. The handles of both the pan and the lid are made of high heat resistant black phenolic while the holder is made of melamine.

The holder is a large melamine protection for setting the Hotpan in while serving to not only protect your table or other surface but to keep foods warm longer. The air trapped between the pan and the holder will add an extra layer of insulation to keep your food warm while serving at the dinner table.

The unique design of the double walled lid allows for better retention of steam inside the pan as the lid has a lip that forces steam and condensation to drip back into the pan instead of releasing to the room as you cook. This trapped steam and condensation means better cooking with more flavor being trapped and kept in your dishes. For vegetables and other steamed things the vitamins and nutrients are also kept in the food so you enjoy a not only more flavorful meal but a healthier one.

The Kuhn Rikon Hotpan is a great way to prepare meals and I have been using the 3 quart Hotpan for a month now with enjoyment. The Hotpan is a great way to prepare such a wide variety of dishes and meals from sauces and soups to steaming vegetables and cooking pasta. I have really enjoyed cooking sauces like spaghetti sauce as the pan is great for browning the onions and quickly cooking the spices just before adding the sauce for a great tasting spaghetti dinner.
