Making a single cup of coffee, or even tea or cocoa used to be either difficult or costly but with the Keurig single cup brewer you can get a perfect cup quickly. The Platinum single cup brewer uses a simple design for easy and quick single cups of coffee and tea with the K-cups and a simple drop in design.
The Keurig Platinum Brewer model B70 holds 60 ounces of water and offers five cup sizes for a wide variety of strengths and cups. You use the standard K-Cup coffee or tea portions that are small plastic cups filled with coffee, tea or cocoa and just drop in the chamber pull down the handle and press the brew button.
The K-Cups come in a wide variety of not only common brands but some exotic and specialty names like Star Bucks, Seattle Coffee House and Caribou Coffee. You have a wide variety of teas and cocoa as well and you can purchase them at Target, several national grocery stores and online.
The Platinum Brewer does a quick job of getting a hot cup of water through the machine in less than a minute for any size cup from 4 to 12 ounces. This variety of sizes also means you can have strong to weak coffee or tea just by the amount of water you put through the grounds instead of how much grounds you use.
You can also use your own ground coffee or tea just by purchasing the My K-Cup filter assembly that is also available at Keurig or many stores. The My K-Cup filter assembly replaces the assembly in the Keurig machine that holds the K-Cups and has a small filter basket with a lid for your own grounds or tea.

I found that the My K-Cup does not quite work as well as they have advertised but this is very easily fixed by adding a simple washer that you can get from a hardware store that costs about 50¢. The My K-Cup has a small indent that the prong where water is squirted into the K-Cup inserts and this indent is too deep, adding a rubber washer fills the space and stops the water from spilling out around the lid of the My K-Cup assembly.
The My K-Cup works very well and does even better with adding a small washer so all the water goes through the grounds, before some water would leak out on top of the My K-Cup assembly and into your cup without going through the grounds. Adding a simple washer that fits snuggly in the small indent works great, one about 1/8 inches thick and 7/16ths inches wide with a 1/4 inch hole in the center.
The My K-Cup works great for your own ground coffee but how about the K-Cups you purchase and using these for a single cup of coffee or tea? In a word, fantastic. Here’s how it works on a daily basis, pick out your choice of coffee or teas from the K-Cup selection and place in the chamber.

Pull the handle down to close the chamber and press the brew button after selecting the size of beverage you want and in less than a minute your hot beverage is ready. The Platinum brewer has a regular on mode where hot water is ready all the time at the press of the brewing button.
