The remote control also works well and has all the functions a television has like channel and volume, but it also includes a set of buttons for the television control. The remote not only has the Digital Stream digital controls but also a small set of controls for televisions that may work for your current TV.
Using the remote you can use the television controls to turn your television on or off, change the volume and input choices like TV Antenna AV or AV2. This feature may not work on all televisions but I found it worked fine on my several year old Orion TV easily.
The closed captioning service that is part of regular broadcasting works fine with the Digital Stream DTX9900 converter and is easy to set up and use. The parental lock also works well with four digit codes to lock out specific channels or you can lock out content by the rating system.

The onscreen electronic programming guide works very well and is a handy way to not only find out what the current program is but ones within several hours. This programming information is only available for the current channel your on so if you want to find out what upcoming or current shows to watch on other channels you need to go to the channel and search the program guide individually by station.

Although this is a bit of a hassle for a device that would only cost you $20 with your $40 government coupon you can’t really complain. The Digital Stream DTX9900 converter is a really good buy and with the additional features of an electronic program guide, parental locks and two outputs it is a good value.
The Digital Stream DTX9900 is a pretty good digital converter and well worth the cost after your coupon use. If you want a fully featured digital converter for a little over the cost of your government supplied $40 coupon the Digital Stream DTX9900 is a good choice.
