Altec Lansing iM413 Audio System

The remote does a good job but the speaker system is your basic audio player with good speakers, bass and surround features using internal speakers for bass. The remote is a basic one and to add more would only add more size to the remote as well as cost to the whole unit. One feature I do like with the remote is when changing source it will pause the current song playing on the Sansa media player if you go away from the player.

The surround and bass are very good for the cost of the speaker system and I have no problem with deep bass or high tones but the system is not a high end one. It sounds good and you can crank the music up quite a bit and still have even bass and high tones that are clear but you cannot turn the volume up full without some distortion.

The volume on the speaker system goes from 0 to 30 according to the front LCD panel and with my Sansa View on at max and the player on about 26 there is still good music. At the last few numbers above that 26 the sound does get a bit distorted and bass loses its deep clear notes. Other than cranking the music I have no problems with the player except one other thing with the antenna and no place to store it when moving the player.

Back and Bottom of iM413

The iM413 is a portable device and does include an antenna to receive the FM stations; it is a small wire with a little tag on the end but just hangs out the back. The antenna comes out the back corner of the player and just sticks out on its own so you have to be somewhat careful not to yank the wire while carrying the player around.

Speaking of carrying this around the remote has a nice handy slot on the back for placing it while carrying around or so you don’t lose it. The remote slides in and is held in place by pressure so you won’t have it fallout easily while transporting to your favorite park or beach.

I turned the player upside down to see if the remote would come out but the Sansa View didn’t even budge and the remote sat happily in its slot while I shook. The Sansa View fits well on the iM413 as well as the Sansa Fuze so it is not just for the older versions of Sansa MP3 and media players.

The iM413 comes with three little brackets that have a varying thickness hard rubber pad to help the various MP3 players fit better on the stand. The E200 Adapter seems to work best with my Sansa View to keep it on the stand so it does not rock back and forth while sitting on the connection.

Without this adapter the Fuze and the View both move back and forth easily and when you use the front controls of the player it does push the player around on the audio system. The adapter acts as a back rest and cushions the player as well as keeps it from rocking on the connection for a tight and secure fit on the speaker system.

The Altec Lansing iM413 Portable Audio System is well worth the cost of about $80 to not only hear your audio but to keep your Sansa player charged while docked and plugged into the wall outlet. The Audio system will not charge MP3 players or other audio devices while using the rear input source but it will charge the Sansa players that fit on the front connection like the Fuze and View.

I highly recommend the Altec Lansing inMotion iM413 Portable Audio System for a great speaker system for the Sansa media players or even other media players. The iM413 makes a great speaker system for home office and anywhere with its portability and battery option.
