The quiet speed is a nice setting if you have the unit in a area like a living room with a television or other activities. The normal speed is nice to keep the area clear of dust and allergens yet still be able to hear the air purifier somewhat.
The quick clean is noisy but it is not for use all the time but for the first use in an area or if you need a quick air change in the room to get rid of contaminants or dust. The unit can change the complete volume of air in a 15 by 15 foot room or 225 square feet six times in one hour.
The Vornado AQS 500 has a filter change light as well as the other front panel controls and the remote works well for easy across the room use. The settings like the timed control allows you to have the unit on for a timed period and then it will shut off after the time chosen.
There are two modes with the timer where you can have the unit turn off in the three times if the unit is on or have it turn on if the unit is off in those times. SO if the unit is off you can have it turn on automatically in 8 hours by pressing the timer button and lighting up the 8 hr light. You can go the other way with turning the unit off in the 4, 8 or 12 hour time if the unit is on as well.
In my home though, on all the time is going to be the norm and this works great for me and my particular situation, especially with all my computers. I live on a main road through town, Main Avenue, and I do get a lot of dust kicked up from traffic going by constantly. My house is dusty so the reviewing of the air purifiers and a great testing environment to see how well they work is now here.
After the two weeks of constant use in my rather large living room and dining room I saw a lot of dust on the filters. The Vornado AQS 500 works extremely well for rooms that are connected like a living room and dining room so one filter side is facing each room and pulling air from each.
The filters that I received with the unit are starting to get clogged up and I will probably have to replace them more often than the one or two times a year recommended in the manual. I do have more dust and things kicked up by the close proximity to the main road in town so it will work a bit harder in my house.
Overall the Vornado Air Quality System 500 is a great way to get your air cleaned and filtered of dust allergens and pollutants with an easy and simple air purifier. The filters are very easy to change and the unit changes out volumes of air by its simple design.
I just love of the simple design that is so efficient at clearing the air, so to speak. I highly recommend the Vornado Air Quality System 500 for a great air cleaner and purifier.
