Sleet Chipset Cooler

VIZO has sent me another round of cooling products for my computer and the best in copper cooling for many of my motherboard components is here. The VIZO Sleet Chipset cooler NBC-101-CPR is a nice copper Northbridge cooler with fan for keeping your chipset cool under the most intense gaming.

The VIZO Sleet DDR Cooler DDR-CPR-TW is a nice pair of copper heat sinks that mount on your memory sticks for cooler processing. The VIZO Sleet Chipset Cooler CPS-12 are small 12mm heat sinks for components like Mosfets that adhere using a thermal tape for cooling those hot components.

Installing the Sleet Chipset Cooler for the Northbridge may take some effort depending on your system, you do need to get at the back of the motherboard and the push pins to remove the old heat sink. Knowing I had this and another Northbridge cooler to review I modified my case when I was installing a video card so I could install Northbridge coolers easily.

The cooler has two pushpins for holding onto the motherboard and installs easily as long as you can get at the back of your motherboard to remove the old cooler or heat sink. The Sleet Chipset Cooler NBC-101-CPR also comes with some thermal tape and two heat sinks for using on other chips in your system. They are an inch square and an inch and a half square and both are just under a quarter inch tall. They are perfect for those extra components on the motherboard or video cards to provide some extra cooling in your system.

The VIZO NBC-101-CPR is made of copper and conducts heat very well and comes with a tube of thermal compound that will be enough to install several times and then some. The bottom of the copper base is highly polished and very flat for good heat conductivity. To install just remove the old one and place the new thermal paste on the heat sink, then use the push pins to hold the new cooler in place. The connector for the fan connects to your motherboard three pin power or you can use the included power connector adapter to connect directly to a 4 pin Molex connector.

The Sleet Chipset Cooler works very well with good heat reduction for your Northbridge with a total of 6 to 7 degrees of lower temperature readings when using the VIZO NBC-101CPR. I read temps of 42 to 43 degrees Celsius with the stock cooler and a Scythe temperature sensor and display with the sensor stuck right under the Northbridge and underneath the heat sink. The idle temps were at this 42 to 43 but using Prime 95 and the torture test I had readings of 45 to 46 on the stock heat sink for my ECS KA3 MVP motherboard.

Using the VIZO Northbridge cooler I saw readings of 36 to 37 degrees Celsius at idle and 40 to 42 degrees Celsius when under torture testing. This is a very good drop in temperature and the cooler does a great job of keeping the Northbridge cool under loads and during gaming. The Stress testing using Prime 95 was the highest temperature readings I received so the cooler does a great job and is a great purchase at about $14 from stores like Newegg.
