The Wolfing drivers allow you to do all the programming from one convenient location, the four buttons and the scroll wheel can be programmed and the speed of the scroll changed from here. The icon shows up for the Wolfking program in your task bar area for quick access to the tools available but you can use the mouse with standard drivers.
The mouse does perform very well once you get used to the rapid fire as well as using it with the right games and weapons; some games it is not used much and others its great in. You have to take into account that weapons that have a longer reload or fire time would not benefit from this like single shot weapons.
Automatic and semi automatic weapons work great and you get a little extra kick to your fighting depending on the game and your use of the rapid fire. While playing games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare you can really benefit when using guns like the regular M16 by having a short burst of two or three rounds going two or three times. This is great for suppression fire and having the other guy keeping his head down without going through a steady stream of ammunition.
The Wolfking Trooper also has the on the fly sensitivity adjustment so you can quickly choose the best speed you want in game without hitting any special key combination or going out of the game. What rapid fire speed or the sensitivity your on is very easy to tell by the scroll wheel color and the small LED’s on the side of the mouse. The scroll wheel changes color according to a color system; off is no Rapid Fire, red is two, blue is three and purple is four.
The nice features of in game adjustment and Rapid Fire as well as the contour make for a really nice mouse as well as a tough one that will take some rough service. The mouse feels good and has a nice lip for your thumb to rest on while mousing and is large enough for my hand that I can actually rest my palm on the mouse while pausing which is a comfort for me with my worries about Carpal Tunnel.
I do have mild Carpal Tunnel and wear wrist braces at night and finding a mouse that allows me to rest my palm and hand as much as possible while working and playing is very nice indeed. Giving my wrist a good chance to not get tired or not be in an awkward position lets me play and work longer as I can have less discomfort and worry.
The Wolfking Trooper MVP Gaming Mouse is a really great mouse but something that did take a little getting used to was the rapid fire and taking it off after gaming. When going from a game to doing work on my computer I had some interesting things happening with the cursor and selecting icons.
When the rapid fire is on the mouse button is clicking once from my finger but two, three or four times and can open and close icons and windows pretty oddly. You do get used to this and it can get to be a good habit to check the scroll wheel just before resuming computer use after gaming but it still happens on occasion.
The Wolfking mouse is a great purchase and costs very comparably with other gaming mice at the low end for what I would consider a fair price of $45. This is a great price for a gaming mouse with the three sensitivities and the Rapid Fire feature as well as a good feeling and well built mouse.
