The RadTech BT600 is a great Bluetooth desktop mouse for both PC and MAC that connects using an available Bluetooth enabled computer or with a Bluetooth dongle. The RadTech BT600 is a simple and convenient way to have a wireless mouse that does not have the limitations of shorter range wireless using a radio frequency.
The RadTech BT600 is a full Bluetooth Class II that supports the HID profile so it is compatible with many Bluetooth host computers or with a dongle for non Bluetooth enabled computers. The mouse is slightly smaller than a full sized mouse but it is a nice size and especially good for travel and on the go use but is comfortable enough to use every day.
The BT600 Bluetooth Desktop Mouse includes the mouse itself, a set of AA rechargeable batteries, the quick start guide and a USB charging cable. The batteries install into the mouse on the bottom and then charge through a USB cable that you can use even when charging.
Set up is simple using either a Bluetooth enabled system or one with a Bluetooth dongle, simply follow the instructions of pairing the mouse with the dongle or computer that has Bluetooth. On my dongle I simply opened the program after installing the dongle drivers and paired the mouse with the dongle which took all of a minute or less.
Actually setting up the mouse for first use takes nearly two or maybe three minutes for the dongle so the first time you use it is not exactly as simple as plug and play but it is fast and simple. Once you have it installed the mouse works very well just like any other Bluetooth devices I have used in the past and is compatible with PC and MAC computers.
The BT600 mouse is a 1600 dpi optical mouse which means a fast response time while moving the cursor around and is just as fast as many of my gaming mice. The mouse is comfortable with a rubber palm and main button area for good control and the sides are smooth for comfort.
The mouse has 5 buttons including the two finger buttons, two side buttons and the middle mouse scroll wheel button with an on/off button over the palm area. The on/off button is not in the way while using the mouse and I have never accidentally turned the mouse off while using it.
Actually this is a nice place for the one/off button as you can simply push it without having to flip the mouse over for turning it on or off. Other mice I have used has a bottom button which I would invariably not worry about because the button is out of the way and hidden.
The rechargeable batteries work well and I did not have to take any time to charge when I first installed them due to having the USB cable for charging. I was able to plug the mouse in from the top where other corded mice have their cord and start using it while it was charging.
The scroll wheel has a blinking LED light that glows red when it is charging, is green when it has a full charge and blinks red when no batteries are in the mouse. The mouse takes a few hours to charge fully when the batteries are completely dead but if you simply plug the mouse in from time to time you can prevent this long charge time.
The mouse has the usual two finger buttons that are the left and right clicks as well as a scroll wheel with a button and the two side buttons that are set up as forward and back for web browsing. The controls for the mouse are changeable using other programs like those that come with Windows Vista or third party programs such as X-Mouse Button Control.
The mouse works very well for gaming, regular web surfing and computer use that I normally perform such as word processing and updating my website. The mouse works well and I have had no problems with using it over any other Bluetooth or regular wireless mouse I have used.
I have been using the BT600 mouse for over a month and found it is quite good for all my computer use as well as use on my PlayStation 3 connecting it through the Bluetooth devices setup. Using the mouse on the PS3 was simple and pairing it went very quickly just by going to the Accessories setup and adding the mouse.
I compared the Bluetooth mouse with my RF mouse and tried both from as far as I could across two rooms at a distance of about 25 feet without any problems. Both mice responded well and I could easily see the cursors moving around the screen from a good distance away like 25 feet.
I have noticed that when I have left the mouse and not turned it off or right after turning it on you may have to click the mouse buttons in order to start using it as it seems to need a boost in transmitting. This is quite common in some mice that I have used in the past from other companies and for Bluetooth this is also very common and no problem.
The RadTech BT600 Bluetooth Desktop Mouse comes in black and white and costs about $60 with an optional AC power adapter that is also available for about $15. The RadTech BT600 Bluetooth mouse is a great mouse and is very handy as a Bluetooth mouse with all the accuracy and precision of a 1600 dpi optical laser.
