Nexus Beamair

While not the most ingenious or hugely technical device for cooling the Nexus BeamAir is a revolution in that no one has thought of it before. The Nexus BeamAir is a great way to force air into a more direct path to increase airflow inside your computer.

You can purchase the 120mm or 80/92mm size for either fan and install the BeamAir adapter on either side of the fan depending on your particular situation. This device is very much dependent on your computer and how you have it set up as well as what you want to cool down.

The BeamAir is a simple design with a plastic base and a honeycomb pattern of cells to direct air in more of a direct line instead of the wider pattern a fan would produce. The BeamAir directs the fan for a tighter and more forceful air flow inside your computer to get the air moving faster and cooling down components.

I installed mine on the front fan to have air blowing through the computer to help rid my case of hot air from the ATI 3870 X2 video card with its two graphics processor cores. The card generates a lot of heat and this has been the major concern for the newer video cards with dual cores.

I tested the device by running my computer with the Cinebench OpenGL Benchmark test running and watching the graphics processor temperatures on the card using GPU-Z. I ran the card several times with the benchmark and watched the temperature go up and recorded a few times during testing.

I then installed the BeamAir and did the same testing while watching the temperatures and saw a 2 to 4 degree cooling effect while using the Nexus BeamAir. On this computer case the BeamAir makes the most sense to use for cooling cards in the lower part of the case so air is directed across the cards on the motherboard.

On my second computer it makes a great way to cool the disc drives in the bay on top as it forces air across the drives and then across the CPU cooler and out the back. This brought my hard drives down 4 to 6 degrees and the CPU down 2 to 3 degrees during testing while at full work load using Prime95.

The Nexus BeamAir may be just the solution you’re looking for when it comes to directing air across certain areas of your computer when all other solutions have failed. I saw a definite increase in cooling and this is one product that will stay right where it’s at to cool my dual core graphics card.

The Nexus BeamAir is a great little airflow device to help improve airflow inside your computer case, check it out at NexusTek and computer parts stores.
