Kensington SLimBlade Set

The Kensington SlimBlade Set of notebook keyboard, mouse, number pad and even the media remote is a great and professional line of notebook and desktop input devices. The set that I am reviewing includes the keyboard module, number pad module and mouse with micro USB receiver.

Whats in the Box

The SlimBlade set is a modular keyboard set that has magnets that lock the pieces together on either side and a rubber key that helps keep the devices in line. You can move the number pad or media remote so it is on either side of the keyboard according to your preferences.

The media remote is not included in the SlimBlade set but is available from Kensington for about $20 while the SlimBlade set costs about $130. The SlimBlade set is really nice for desktop use but is exceptional as an on the go keyboard mouse set that is not only exceptional using but looks very professional as well.

The keyboard of the set is a regular QWERTY keyboard with the full set of numbers and additional keys you find on common keyboards and even some special function keys. There are five special keys that are for use with both PC and MAC computers that are along the top for eject, media player, back up, gadgets and search options.

SlimBlade Keyboard

The keyboard is a low profile keyboard key with the short keys that are slim for easier typing in my opinion; I have a couple of these keyboards now and prefer them to my regular keyboards for typing. Typing on the shorter keys make for faster typing for me but one thing I have found with any keyboard is that it just takes a little getting used to and you will become accustomed to it.

The keyboard has the usual letter and number keys, print, scroll, home and page keys as well as the windows and apple keys for each system. The number pad is a full number pad set for ease of use while crunching numbers or just regular use as a number pad for us slower non accountant types.

The module part of the SlimBlade comes from magnets on the sides of the keyboard and number pad as well as the media remote that hold the devices together. There is also a rubber blade that inserts into the slot on the other device so they line up and stay that way for regular use.

You can have the number pad on either side of the keyboard according to your preference and if you get the remote you can have that wherever you want as well. The keyboard, number pad and mouse are a nice silver grey color with a piano gloss smooth finish that is very nice and looks very professional.

The mouse is a nice mouse for use as a regular mouse and for programs like Photoshop and internet surfing that works exceptionally well. The mouse is an optical laser with a 360° scroll ball instead of a wheel which works really well for side scrolling.
