For programs like Photoshop and even web surfing where you may do a lot or even some side scrolling the scroll ball allows you to scroll sideways just as easily as up and down. The ball is a small one about the size of a pea and has a nice small amount of clicking to it for a feel of how much you’re moving the ball and cursor on screen.
The side scrolling means you don’t have to bother with moving your cursor around in programs like Photoshop when you’re zoomed in on a picture for even more productivity. This side scrolling is adjustable with the Kensington drivers that come with the set and install just like any other mouse and keyboard set with ease.
The included CD drivers install both the keyboard and mouse drivers with an icon on your taskbar for your scroll amounts using the scroll ball. There are no other settings for your keyboard and the special keys are not configurable to anything else which is really the only downside I have found with the SlimBlade set.
The mouse works very well and is very smooth as well as being ambidextrous in design with its non conforming fit to your hand, it is comfortable to hold and use it just does not have contours like many desktop mice do.
The mouse has a slot on the bottom for the micro USB receiver when not in use that also shuts down the mouse to save on batteries. Each of the devices has a power saving sleep mode to save on batteries as well as the mouse having the sleep mode button when you insert the receiver.
All the devices use 2 AA batteries for power and they last for a good long time, I have been using the set for a month on the original set of batteries without problems. The set works well with the power saving sleep mode and it only takes a key tap or button press to wake them up ready for use.
The Kensington SlimBlade set is a great keyboard mouse set that looks very professional as well as working like a real professional computer set. The size is great for portability with the keyboard being 13 by 6 inches and less than an inch in height which makes it great for packing into a computer bag.
The keyboard set with the removable number pad means you can always have the available pieces with you wherever you go with your laptop for professional results when computing. With the optional media remote you can present yourself as the consummate professional for presentations and business or the at home media wiz.
The Kensington SlimBlade Media Notebook Set is a fantastic keyboard mouse and separate number pad set for use anywhere you need to be computing. This is a great set and one that I highly recommend as a great all around keyboard set with plenty of handy features.
