These handy buttons also include the set of programmable keys available around the perimeter of the tablets working area but only on the top and sides. There are 26 programmable keys available and they are very easy to program with the drivers. You simply click on the MacroKey Manager icon in your taskbar and this will bring you to the current profile that is set on the tablet. You can choose any of the other profiles from the drop down menu bar and once you are on the profile you want just click on the Key you want to set on the drop down menu.
When you bring up the popup page for the key you can assign the key to a hotkey assignment or you can link it to any program on your computer using the browse function. There is a spot to add a description so when you click on the key the description reminds you what it is for. Setting up your profiles is easy with the New button on the MacroKey Manager and you can have a lot of profiles. I’m not exactly sure if it is limited to a number but after creating 25 new profiles I quite with the thirty I had in the drop down list, five were already set.
The Genius Multi Media Tablet M609 is a great tablet and pen set that allows you to customize not only the tablet using the MacroKey Manager but you can change the pen settings as well. The tablet is fully plug and play for Windows Vista but to change the programmable keys you do need the MacroKey Manager program. The M609 is also compatible with Macintosh computers so you don’t have to worry if you have a MAC system as well.
I found using the tablet for my general computer work pretty easy and did not have any problems at all in Photoshop CS3 and Photoshop Elements as well as the free image editor that is included from Ulead. The tablets is easy to setup and start using, almost completely plug and play for the actual pen and tablet just not the programmable keys. The extra controls like the two rolling ones for moving pages up and down as well as sideways and the volume and zoom are a great addition.
The Genius M609 tablet is a great and highly portable way to do the precise image editing as well as general computer work using a tablet and pen. The M609 does a great job of being that perfect mix of precise control, additional common use buttons and keys as well as the programmable features.
