LapWorks Futura
The plastic on the bottom slides easily on a desk or other surface so you may have a problem if you use the Futura fully open on a smooth desk as a way to keep your computer cool. The Futura with a notebook on it in the full open position will slide around a bit when using the notebook so this is a slight drawback.
You can easily flip the Futura over and use the top side down with the rubber feet against the table. I found this worked just fine with my wife’s Hewlett Packard laptop as a way to keep the notebook computer off the desk surface for additional space between the notebook and the desk. There are plenty of slots on the Futura for cooling and allowing heat and air between the bottom of your laptop and the surface the Futura is sitting on.
Using the Futura as a desktop stand works well for smaller notebooks such as a 15.4” screen size but not for the larger widescreen 17” notebooks. They are just too wobbly and sitting on the narrower 11” wide surface does not make for a steady surface while using the laptop and the Futura. It does work fine with the 15.4” and smaller notebooks so to use the Futura as a stand while in the folded setup works fine for smaller laptops.
You can use the Futura quite well as a lap desk for use with a laptop as long as you use the built in touch pad of your laptop and not a regular mouse. The lap desk does not have enough room on the side to hold an additional mousing surface so you will need to use the touchpad. With my laptop being just a couple of inches less than the Futura Laptop Desk it does not have enough room on one side for much more.
