Clear One Chat 50

I do have a complaint that one headset works fine and another headset I tried did not work on the stereo but the one set I tried is a cheaper one. The Otto OT-4 with its volume adjustment on the ear piece worked very well but a couple of cheaper ones that don’t have the separate adjustment might not work as well. The speaker is a bit quiet but when you connect a headset the volume of the headset is actually amplified so having a separate volume control for any speakers or headsets you connect to the Chat 50 is probably going to be needed.

Once you connect a headset or other speaker to the Chat 50 the volume control on your computer does not have any affect on the speaker or headset. If you have a separate speaker that has a volume adjustment this little powerhouse of a speaker system works great with other speakers and adds to the stereo effect. I have a couple of mStation speakers connected to this one and it sounds great with the Chat 50 in the middle.

The Chat 50 is not your replacement for a larger speaker but it does sound good on its own just not great or fantastic. The little speaker also connects directly to an MP-3 player and plays music or pod casts directly without a PC connection. You will still need an external power but you can use the little speaker to listen to tunes or voice from a handheld digital recorder or MP3 player easily.

The Chat 50 speaker phone works very well in a lot of different ways which is one of the main things that impresses me about this speaker phone. You can use it gaming, for regular phone calls, voice over IP and internet phone calls as well as video conferencing. The Chat 50 from ClearOne is a great personal speaker phone and well worth the effort of having to be tethered to a PC, after all don’t we always have our computers close at hand when we work or play.
