VIZO Shuttle ST

The VIZO Shuttle ST 2.5 Inch SATA Hard Drive Enclosure is a great way to turn a 2.5 inch SATA hard drive into a portable drive solution quickly and easily. The Shuttle ST is the newest in the Shuttle hard drive enclosure line and is fully USB 2.0 compatible for great file transfer rates but also compatible with the USB 1.1 specification.

Using a USB flash drive is nice for small files but movies and pictures can become large file sizes quickly and moving them from one computer to another can be a hassle. Backing up your important data to a portable drive can be an easy solution for restoring those files or using them on another system quickly. Even on networks moving large files can be time consuming and to keep down on the network traffic it can be easier to just transfer your files and data to a hard drive.

Moving around with your computer information is another thing you can easily and quickly do like taking work home or watching a movie or listening to music at a friend’s house. The Shuttle enclosure makes for a great way to carry around your computer files, movies, pictures or data anywhere you go quickly and easily.

The Shuttle enclosure comes with the case itself that comes apart into two pieces, the USB Y cable, quick install manual and a handy screwdriver for easy installation of your hard drive. There is also a handy carry sleeve that the Shuttle ST slides into to protect the case from scratches and nicks. You do need to purchase a SATA hard drive and this was the first thing I had to do in order to review the Shuttle, I didn’t have any 2.5 inch drives lying around.

Using the handy screwdriver that’s included you unscrew the two screws holding the cover on the interface section and pull the interface section out of the cover. The interface section has your USB mini-B connection and a power connection if you want to use a power adapter. The SATA connection is an all in one connection that has the power and data all in one just like on a notebook so you simply push the drive on the connection and slide it into the cover.
