Saitek has come out with lots of peripherals and some great controllers for the PC as well as console gaming with an eye toward functionality and style. The current crop of headsets that many companies are coming out with lack the true 5.1 directional sound that separate speakers allow but now we have separate drivers inside the headsets of the Cyborg 5.1 Headset.
The Cyborg 5.1 Headset contains the six drivers in the two ear pieces for a true directional sound that does sound very good with rich bass and good overall tone. There are two smaller drivers and a larger one in each headset piece as well as a light that is red on the left side and green on the right for easy identification and positioning.
The drivers sound very good and the surround sound stereo has no problems but my computer is a bit confused when using the USB headsets and going from that to the speakers I normally use. You have to jump into the control panel to choose which speaker system you want to use and if you switch often that can get tiresome. This was the only thing I found to be a bit of a drawback but it is not the fault of the headset but my Windows operating system.
The Cyborg 5.1 Headset comes with the nice black and silver headset with the detachable microphone, a very nice semi rigid carry case and drivers on a CD with a small manual. The drivers are nice if you have no 5.1 surround sound systems installed on your computer but are not really necessary if you already have one.
The case for the headset is a real extravagance with plush red velvety lining and nice preformed spots for the headset and inline controller. The case is a semi rigid cloth and plastic that protects the headset while traveling and provides a convenient place to put the microphone when not using it so you know where to look for it.
