The Ulead software that comes with the package did capture from the hardware and does a decent enough job editing the videos as well as the WinDVD Creator 2 that also comes with the ConvertX package. This ends up being a very odd mixture of software and hardware to get a video capturing device for current video authoring.
I am not sure if this is due to the current Windows Vista lack of compatibility or something else but the hardware for the ConvertX works very well and with the small ConvertX GoCap the package works fine for video capture for camcorder, VCR or DVD and TV capturing. Authoring to a DVD or CD is simple and with all the included software you will have plenty of options for recording to disc or even your computer for playback later.
The ConvertX PVR works well for the hardware side and with the Plextor GoCap program it works very well and easily for capturing but the software that comes with the program could be difficult to use. If you know what you’re doing with the various capturing software programs this would be a decent package but the software is not exactly user friendly.
I am just not sure about recommending the Plextor ConvertX as a complete package but the PVR hardware is really a good quality capture device on its own. The Plextor GoCap works well and does a decent enough job capturing video and analog TV but the other software is just not user friendly.
