A Clutter-Free Home

Projects, tips and hints are the beginning of A Clutter-Free Home by Black & Decker with the step by step guide to furniture and built in solutions for storing your stuff. Philip Schmidt gives his take and a wealth of ideas to help move your stuff to a more organized and out of the way location to help your home become a nicer living space.

The Complete Guide To A Clutter-Free Home by Black & Decker is a great book to give you several good ideas for furniture and built in solutions for organizing your things. We all have stuff that is hard to find places for and using those totes and plastic storage bins can only work in some of the possible solutions we have for keeping that stuff organized and out of the way.

A Clutter Free Home gives you solutions and ideas to creating free standing furniture like under bed drawers, a pine pantry or a simple shelf for starters. The book goes into depth on solutions like built in shelves, cabinets and other household storage projects that are going to be useful parts of your home for years.

Under stairs, in out of the way corners and even in walls are some solutions for out of the way storage and the book helps you in building storage solutions to help organize your stuff. The book also includes some kitchen, bedroom closet and more regular areas of your home and ways to organize your things by room.

A Clutter-Free Home has plans and step by step instructions along with materials lists, dimensions and finishing techniques for the furniture and other storage projects. The plans include both the free standing furniture and built in designs but of course some of the built in designs may have to be altered.

The free standing designs will be pretty easy but the built in projects may need altering depending on your particular situation and home. The book not only gives specific designs and plans but general ideas like the under stairs cabinets that would work even if you do have a closet under those same stairs.

If only I did not have a radiator parked in front of my main stairwell I would rip out the wall and build in a set of shelves just like the cover of the book shows. Maybe not with doors but shelves would be helpful for all those little statues and knick knacks that everyone seems to collect.

My particular situation has a closet under my stairs but the shelves would not intrude much into the space there and it would make more of an area that is so underutilized. Maybe when I have my boiler replaced I can ask about moving that particular radiator as well for a better looking front entry area.

For now I can easily try other ideas like some of the free standing furniture, pull out shelves for the kitchen and closet organization that my older home is certainly lacking in. With my home purchase and the fact that my house is about a hundred years old storage is something that was lacking in several of the rebuilds.

A Clutter-Free Home includes not only specific projects and plans but general ideas and sections to help you go about your organizing and getting things under control. The book has a general chapter about addressing the mess and goes on room by room through each chapter specifying topics particular to each area and room.

Each room chapter includes a Storage Strategies section that gives basic ideas and solutions and then moves onto specific projects and solutions by room. The book has major construction projects like closets and simple things like adding shelves to a wall for the whole range of project difficulty.

A Clutter-Free Home is a great idea and specific storage solution project guide to help anyone wanting more than just a few simple plans or ideas. A Clutter-Free Home gives a great range of projects in one single form so you don't have to spend time looking for ideas, plans or solutions on the internet or elsewhere.

While many of the ideas in the book are available from other sources such as websites about home improvement and simple how to sites you have everything in one place along with your material lists and plans. The book has the lists of materials, plans including sizes of wood and other materials along with tools you need for each project.

The plans and ideas in A Clutter-Free Home range from the simple like installing a shelf or other simple things to more difficult projects up to ones like the closet. The more difficult ones like building a closet have enough instructions to get things done correctly but if you don't think you have the expertise the other projects will surely keep any home handyman busy.

The book also includes some appendixes giving helpful tips about shelving, tools and conversions charts that may be necessary during your work. The book has plenty in each chapter as well as the appendix and helpful tips using the tools needed in each project as well.

A Clutter-Free Home from Black & Decker written by Philip Schmidt is a great book for not only ideas for organization but for actual plans and projects. I highly recommend A Clutter-Free Home for anyone wanting a complete plan and idea book for home organization.
